Pat,
I'd like to do something on SI, but at the same time I don't want to breach protocol as I have inadvertently done in the past.
Being a Shriner, I like to help out with Shrine Circus when and where I can. The circus publishes a program/childrens activity book (it has coloring pictures, clown "baseball-style" cards and word games in it) which is offers for sale at each performance. The activity book is printed via the ads in it. I'd like to offer SI members with businesses the opportunity to showcase there business with an ad in the activity book. Though I have seen things for sale on SI before, I don't know if those individuals were breaching protocol or not and I would prefer not to proceed blindly.
Is there a place in SI for offering these ad opportunities?
Thanks for your input.

Pat,

I just watched a few of the presentations from the Smaller Indiana conference a month ago. Scott Massey's, yours, David Forsell's, and a couple of others. I'm from NW Indiana, Kentland/Morocco, and other than HLFI I don't have much connection to Indianapolis. However, this is pretty intriguing stuff. I'm still trying to figure out the meaning(s) of Smaller Indiana. I understand the value of making connections and so forth, but there are some underlying principles that encourage me about your effort. I say underlying because I haven't seen/heard it stated, but there is a recognition that "prosperity" is given a new, better, meaning, and that the conventional meaning of "economic growth" might also be fine tuned. Given a couple of references to God and the spiritual side of life, I'm encouraged and would like to know more about the vision of this effort, and how small NW Indiana towns might be involved. I participated in some discussions on a general comment wall a week ago (Meridian Institute group), but I'd like to get a better understanding from the leaders if I might -here or by email.

Pat -- I assume you have been following this. Have the Colts done anything along this line? What about IU or Notre Dame, now that Purdue has taken the plunge?

I would love to see something like this for virtually all Hoosier events -- line notes at symphonies, instant translations at operas, "tours" of art galleries and museums, etc. The Cultural Trail is doing something along these lines, I believe. I suspect more than one of our fellow Smoosiers is involved.

Thanks again for choosing me for "1964," Pat. The timing couldn't have been better; I really needed that big night, and I genuinely appreciated it.

Apologies for a note so close to tomorrow's big event but...
Wanted to attend in the worst way but despite constant attempts all weekend and the past 2 days unable to remove 2 "must attend committments".
No mention of audio tape or videotape of the proceedings anywhere and too late to suggest that to the organizers myself so wondering if you might pull some last minute strings, if time permits you, and suggest that to them or maybe even suggest it to our 4 ticket winners....or Doug Karr, Robbie Slaughter, Erik Deckers.....hell pal anyone!!!! LOL
I myself would be more than willing to pay for such. 6 years of researching and preparing to launch a website and this event would have proven so timely for me as a checklist/final roadmap I can taste it.
Tape recordings would more than serve me well but no idea if enough others would pay for a set to justify seeking someone to do it.

Patrick my man:
Continuing to prepare my list re Social Media responses on SI and promise a post later today for you on that. Spent a good 3 hours compiling my own list and that only covers HALF of the posts made but is indeed an exercise of fruition in that it serves as a "spreadsheet" for my purposes showing in black and white my self-held thoughts that SM is more than a craze or phase of internet expansion; it is indeed new but has stamped itself as a tool you can't do without today and isn't likely to go away for a very long, long time.
My handwriting served as a source of personal pride for all of my life but that was significantly changed by a stroke 13 years past and the heart attack 6 and a half years ago. Thus by necessity in order to provide readibility I must type each of these 50 listings in a new post.
Reason for a diversion from that task now regards your add to the post of Ms. Locoaxe (sp?) and commernts from her that SI dwarfs Facebook and Twitter.
You know the value and esteem I give to our site and her words are as much music to my ears and they must be for you.
Again reading her note this morning prompts me to provide an idea for promotion of SI planned for sharing with you since the membership celebration last month.
1. Having gained some 7,500 registered members requires only a gain of 1/3 to strike the magical mark of 10,000.
2. That means if only 1 out of 3 of us added but a single acquaintance to our rolls we immediately have our 10,000.

Why stop at that figure???????????

Please be sure you are firmly seated with feel securely flat upon the floor!

Forgive my having the audacity to self promote but somehow I have always managed to be seen as a promoter; everything from Rotary and Optimist clubs as district PR person, defeated an incumbent in the same party 2-1 to become a state senator at age 28, United Methodist Church membership campaigns to advertising and promoting a dragstrip to a heavyweight fight with Joe Frazier, U. of Nebraska-Omaha athletic department, served as Executive Secretary of the 16-member high school athletic conference of the largest high schools in Omaha/Council Bluffs...enough about me, let's dwell on SI and it's future and growth.

My proposition:

TWENTY-THOUSAND AND TEN enrolled SI MEMBERS kicking off the 2010 New Year with a celebration blast at the Big A or elsewhere!
Should you not be comfortable hosting our own New Year's Eve gig we could do it New Year's Day and set up widescreen TV's for the football bowl games with snacks and/or lunch etc.
Yust a couple ideas off the top of my head to wet your whistle lol.

Hi Pat. I get occasional emails to the entire Smaller Indiana membership. Thought this might be of interest. Can you help link into non-profit groups here?
Bennett Innovations is gifting a $25,000 video or PSA project to one central Indiana non-profit. Deadline is July 22. Applications can be downloaded online via the link above. I'll make this your call to either share or provide direction to get this out further on SI. Thanks.
