Smaller Indiana

Making people and ideas findable

So, I am new to this whole blogging thing, and I was reading over Kyle Lacy's post from this morning on 20 Things We Have Learned From Blogging. Great post, Kyle. I noticed (as I should have begun this weeks ago), that one of the biggest issues for me as far as blogging is concerned was, is, can be, INTIMIDATION.

I have read so many great posts by so many talented people on Smaller Indiana. For those of us who are new to a community, as I have only recently joined SI, it can be hard to just jump in. But that's exactly what you (I) have to do. Jump in.

As with any venture, be it personal or business, there are definitely risks. (Like, is there a spell check on this thing because I am constantly typing way too fast?) No, I'm kidding...kind of...but the real issue is when you put who you are, your thoughts, ideas, a-ha moments out there, the thought of being judged can make it very scary. And of course there is always the content card that many seem to have issues with at times.

So, as I start my blog today, I realize that there have to be tons of people out there that are like me. They want to post, but there is that one thing that is stopping them. Fear. With that being said, I will take some advice from Beyond Your Best and finally, finally, throw out the old tapes.

So, Hi. My name is Lindsay Manfredi, and I am so open to making to friends, connections, and partners. Check out my spot and say hello.

I too am new to blogging. So new, in fact, that I cannot decide whether I want to blog outside in this cold or if I should stay inside and blog on a treadmill. All I know is that I've got to get in shape...and soon!

Hi Lindsey, congratulations on your first blog post. The biggest secret to blogging is to just write about what moves you. It could be your personal passion or hobby, your job (or quest to find a job). You can write about your company or a personal blog that only a few people will see.

BTW, if you want an inline spell checker, use Firefox. It finds most spelling errors.

I'm a pretty new blogger, and I think you'll find (as I have) the SI community to be very open and engaging! Good luck.
