Making people and ideas findable

Lynnell Nixon-Knight

Why do I love Jazzercize so much? In a word: Frozen Towels. (Okay, that’s two words.)

I confess to being a girl who loves creature comforts. I’m all over the softer sofa, the tastier burger, and the now-indispensible seat warmers in my car.

This somewhat conflicts with my desire to be fit, as exercise is a generally sweaty, and at times, uncomfortable undertaking. Still, the endorphins are a definite plus and I do appreciate not getting winded by walking to the fridge.

Still, imagine my delight the very first time Michele Teague (Zionsville, Carmel, North Indy, Broadripple franchises) surprised her Saturday morning class with a frosty treat –- little white frozen towels for everyone!

The stiff (and yet malleable) little square of terry cloth went immediately to my flushed and sweaty face. Ah! And it smelled good.

Was that steam wafting in circles around my head? No – haha – just a fanciful visual of my bodily bliss. In seconds, I felt cool, calm and collected…

That little white towel was like a surprise delivery of flowers at the office. It was like friendly clap on the shoulder. It was just another little “extra” that makes Michele’s classes so special.

The frozen towels reappear from time to time as a special treat -– like coming home from school to an unexpected plate of homemade cookies (only fewer calories). Over the years I may have waxed and waned about doing exercise, but one thing is for certain –- with Jazzercize around, I’m pretty sure I’ll never throw in the towel. ><>

Lynnell--I am right there with you! I've been going to Jazzercise for 9 years now, and absolutely LOVE it!! I started when my former employer, Baker & Daniels, offered 2 lunch-time classes a week. I soon discovered I had to find another location to add workouts to my week.

I ended up at the Northwest Indy classes. I go Monday -Thursday nights to New Life (86th & Ditch) from 6-7, then Saturday morning at St. Lukes at 8:30. There are many more locations and times included for my pass, which can be found at www.jazzersite.com.

I have never found a more well-rounded workout anywhere! I love that I work out at an extremely hight level, but can shift to low impact if I'm strained something. The music and energy are unbelievable.

Now---to the frozen towels! We have them at just about every class all summer, and they are an absolute God-send in the midst of a workout! We actually incorporated the idea at the Indpls. Chamber's Business at the Brickyard golf event, with National City sponsoring the giveaway towels a few years in a row.

So, again, I'm right there with you regarding Jazzercise. Anyone reading this really should come join us at one of our classes. The first one is always free so you can get a feel for it.

Thanks for sharing!
