I need to open this out by saying how humbled I was yesterday by the amount of emails, direct messages, phone calls, and texts that came in to see how I was doing in light of some things that were said about my profession and business. I want to thank you all for your support and love. My community lifted me up and for that, I am entirely grateful.
When I decided to write about what I do for a living last week in my blog, there were no defenses up. It was not a post defending my profession at a…

There has been so much “controversy” and discussion over this whole idea of “GHOSTBLOGGING.” In my opinion, it’s quite ridiculous. The things us “ghostbloggers” hear from social media purist?
•It’s not being truly authentic
•It’s not ethical
•It’s not real if it’s not from the actual person

A few months back my friend,
Annie Sever-Dimitri, sent me a great card. On the front was a quote by
Eleanor Roosevelt which said, “Do something every day that scares you.” Months later, I…

You know, I’ve never understood those folks who constantly draw a line between work life and personal life. I am not referring to bringing a crappy day home with you and taking it out on your family…which by the way, happens quite often and is really NOT cool. What I AM referring to is your relationship to your…

I just dropped off my 5 year old (almost 6) to Kindergarten. We’ve been having a few issues as she has had to adjust to an environment consisting almost entirely of learning, from a preschool where life was all play. Last week when I picked her up, she said it was “too long…

I don’t know if fear is necessarily brought up around me all the time, or if it is just something that I have become keen to in the past two weeks. Regardless, fear, talk of fear, people not doing things OUT of fear, have been surrounding me. First, I wonder why…then I wonder…where does…

Dear Blog,
I love you because you are always here for me. You don’t really “judge” me with the exception of a couple of red lines every once in a while as my fingers often have to keep up with my head rants. You allow me to be transparent and authentic. You allow me to scream at the top of my lungs what is inside me. You allow me to generate new audiences, and give value to others. You provide a platform for others to really “get” me, and for others to not…and for some reason, I don’t care abou…

Indiana, oh Indiana. Some may call this the bible belt here in the Midwest. And yes, there are many churches, but there is much more to Indiana than religion. This is coming from a girl who got out of Indiana strait after she turned 18. I’m back though, and love Indianapolis more and…

Have you ever had a friend that you knew was just not a positive person for your life? Every time you were around this person, you felt drained, as if a vampire were sucking it out of you. You wanted to let the friendship go, but in the back of your head, you truly just h…

In life, we get nervous, right? Especially when we're not quite sure of oursleves. I'm a performer. I used to get so sick to my stomache everytime I had to play a show in the beginning of my career. I was excited. I was nervous, I was scared....I mean, the gamete of emotions take their toll. I believe anyone who has ever had to perform or speak in front of people can understand this. I've heard many things about speaking, one being that folks would rather die than speak publically. Sounds like t…

Man, I am so freaking on fire..GOOD fire, AWESOME fire...like so excited to be a part of Smaller Indiana and connected to so many awesome people! (I know that my incessant excitement may get annoying...I KNOW!, but that's who I am.)
So, yesterday, we had 275 people attend the Smaller Indiana Bigger Ideas event. Here is a thought that went through my head as I was listening to Jennie DeVoe speak. Someone had posted a blog on the reasons why they WEREN'T going to attend the conference, and I thoug…

I’ve been listening to T Harv Eker’s,
Secrets of the Millionaire Mind, over the past couple of weeks and one thing that has been a key thought in my head, is the concept of opportunity. Man, if you’ve not read this book, or as in my case, listened to it, I encourage you to do so. Talk about getting out of a victim mindset and taking control, this book has truly helped open my e…

Let’s talk a little bit about inspiration, innovative minds, intentions of accomplishment, and Indiana. Every day I am here, every person I meet, every life I can contribute to, I am amazed by what Indianapolis has given me. The people I have met and friends I have made through Smaller Indiana and
Rainmakers, have exceeded any expectation I may have had. To me, THAT is exciting.
I am from a fairly small town and as a child growing into a teenager I knew…

Okay, I'm stoked to be eating pancakes for charity in a couple of weeks. I feel honored to be a part of the amazing people behind
Carb Day For A Cause.
You know, I’ve been thinking about what it means to be hungry. I never really thought about it much until I jumped on board with Carb Day For A Cause. I mean, how often do we exaggerate ourselves by using the common phrases, “I’m STARVING,” or “I’m so hungry I could die.” I mean, seriousl…

So, last week, I was hanging out with Danny O'Malia during a
Rainmakers event at Bar Louie in Clay Terrace. The topic of conversation was first impressions. (One of my FAVORITES, right?)
Anyway, we were talking about how many salespeople just like to sell, sell, sell. Now, let's keep in mind not ALL salespeople take this approach...there are brilliantly trained sales folks out there due some amazing trainers we have here in Indy....but anyway, Danny the…

Okay, I'll admit it. I'm a judger. I take one look at someone and can usually come up with assumptions fairly quickly. I don't think that's necessarily a BAD thing, afterall, we were born with some sense of "this is good...this is bad" in us, for the most part, but how much is a learned behavior? What are our judgements founded upon? Our childhoods? Our religious backgrounds? (now that's classic.) What about the corporate culture that most of us adhere to on a daily basis? Do any of these things…

Hello Smaller Indiana!
I am the proud owner of a
MINI Cooper. I purchased my MINI in August, 2008 from
Dreyer and Reinbold. Jim Barth to be exact. I absolutely KNEW I wanted a MINI before I even knew what the benefits were...ei, synthetic oil, gas mileage, all oil changes ON MINI for 3 years or 36,000 miles!! Free oil changes??!! What??!! Yes
Okay, so here's my experience. Because of the synthetic oil in MINI (I real…
