In the middle of the Social Justice series for Indy Metro, this past week I engaged the passage of Mark 10:17-31. Actually this story about Jesus and a good outwardly moral, religious person engaged me first. I couldn’t seem to avoid it over the past month. A couple of the takeaways for me from this man’s encounter with Jesus we’re: Those so often Christian acts of justice and compassion end up mod… Continue

Milo Curtis Tech & Poverty

I'm returning from a 10 day fast from Technology. No email, blog posting, twittering, texts, phone calls, or computer work of any kind...for 10 days. Why the fast, let me explain... I just got back from an intense trip the small costal town of Poneloya, Nicaragua (about 1800 people). Erik Deckers I'm participating in Blog Action Day 2008 Poverty

Like most Americans, I have the occasional bad day where nothing seems to go right. Gas is so expensive, I don’t always fill the tank, hoping gas prices will drop the next day. The kids keep forgetting to turn the lights off, so the electric bill goes up that month. I forgot my wallet, so I can’t get lunch. Rather than dwell on these things, I thank God instead. I thank Him that I have a car to drive, and money to put gas in it. I thank Him that we have a home and healthy kids to play in it. I… Continue

Nicki Laycoax 2nd Annual Blog Action Day-Wednesday, October 15

I received my reminder email yesterday about Blog Action Day. If you don't know what it is, and would like to participate, please check out www.blogactionday.org. This year is the 2nd annual event, and this year's topic is poverty. The goal is that if the over 7,500 worldwide bloggers write one post on one day, that for at least one day, we will all take the time to think about what we can all do to stop poverty. I recently posted an update with a video on :… Continue
