So the
Whitehouse wants to battle Fox News (again).
"...we should be clear that the institutions of democracy – free markets, a free press, a strong civil society – cannot be built overnight, and they cannot be built at the end of a barrel of a gun." Barack Obama
I'm not a Republican. I'm even
liberal in some of my views of how government can help people.

Granted, the peace prize pretty much became a farce when they gave it to Yasser Arafat and Al Gore (really?) Neither of them had anything to do with promoting peace. Giving it to President Obama also cheapened it for those who have received it before.
Lech Walesa, Martin Luther King, the Dalai Lama, Nelson Mandela, and others with lifetimes of incredible sacrifice and dedication have come before him. While I don’t like his politics, at least Jimmy Carter has years of service, wrongheaded or not…

I did not vote for him but to those who did, please tell me this is NOT okay. Here are the lyrics for both songs.
Song 1:
Mm, mmm, mm!
Barack Hussein Obama
He said that all must lend a hand
To make this country strong again
Mmm, mmm, mm!
Barack Hussein Obama
He said we must be fair today
Equal work means equal pay
Mmm, mmm, mm!
Barack Hussein Obama
He said that we must take a stand
To make sure everyone gets a chance
Mmm, mmm, mm!
Barack Hussein Obama
He said red, yellow, black or wh…

I rolled into Whole Foods today to grab a drink and noticed a group of protesters at the entrance. They were holding up signs attacking
John Mackey, CEO of Whole Foods, for his stance on Obama's health care reform plan. I stopped to snap a photo and grab a flier, which referenced a recent
Wall Street Journal op-ed…

I wanted to write a different perspective than
Mike's Rant on Healthcare.
Healthcare is broke. You know it. I know it. People talk about the expense involved in universal health care and paying Americans having to foot the bills for non-paying Americans. Guess what? You already pay. If I don't have insurance and I get in a car wreck, I still get services and you still pay for it.
There
are…

Did anyone
watch it this morning or have you had time to check it out? Although it is just one speech I can't remember any president in my time to make such an impactful (yes made up word) speech. This guy is for real and I hope that everyone can please try to find a way to get behind something he supports. It's tiring to hear the ney sayers on and on with no other possible solutions.
I con…

It’s terrifying to me considering today’s announcements to realize that GM and Circuit City have aspects in common. And, unless the triumvirate of the Obama administration, GM management, and the UAW face these facts, then our nation’s largest car manufacturer will end up just like the electronics retailer – not only bankrupt, but out of business entirely.
Circuit City thought it could make it by having a better price on the same merchandise that both they and their competition were retailing.…

I recently saw an interview with (former NY City) Mayor Rudy Guilliani. He mentioned that he thinks about 9/11 every single day. In many ways, so do I. For the people who were there (like me), it is a wound that will never fully heal. And the Barack Obama Administration has decided to pick at the scab, open it up and pour in a ton of salt.
He claims innocence; that he didn’t know anything about it. But I just can’t seem to swallow that pill. How can the President of the United States NOT know w…

The Press in the United States let us down during the last administration by not asking the tough questions and relentlessly digging in on what matters to the American people. The press has continued this 'enchantment' with Barack Obama.
That Obama is hand-picking reporters to ask questions, and most of the questions are softballs is a disservice of the Fourth Estate. We need tough, seasoned and relentless journalists more than ever in this country.
Stimulus (like it or not) is going to bring…

Well not everything, but here goes (I'd also like to hear what others think as well on these or other subjects):
Stimulus: Big waste of money
Obama: Right image, wrong reactions, flying by the seat of his pants
Small Business: Big ideas, small pocketbooks
Daniels: Big ideas and even a few good ones
Bush: Thank God that is over
Cubs: Go cubs! Maybe next year?
Blue Moon: mmmmmmmm!
Fishing: The reason you work so hard all week
Beer: Goes well with fishing
SBDC: Lifesaver (business saver?)
Twilight…

I'm sure they are within the relevant legal parameters but Indiana Live Casino is bothering me with the Yes We Can / Obama themed ads. Can't exactly put my finger on it. Maybe lack of taste? Lack of respect? I'm not sure.
Indiana Live Casino, please go on to your next idea.

Catastrophe is inevitable without the stimulus(a.k.a. spending) package. At least that is what our politicians want us to believe. President Obama is at the top of the list. I think
the Wall Street Journal has it right when they compare the current state of affairs with Ayn Rand's Atlas Shrugged.
Catastrophe is what is coming as we continue to empower the government and weaken the people. Slowly, but surely, we are moving tow…

What I was feeling on Inauguration Day...
It seems like I shouldn't let this day pass without some commentary about today's Inauguration Ceremony in which Barack Obama became President of the United States. I'm usually decidedly quiet about political matters, but for some reason feel compelled to break my silence -- briefly -- today.
I did not vote for Barack Obama. My vote had nothing to do with race or with single-issue politics, rather an opinion formed over the course of the campaig…

I confess. I didn't vote for him but I would love to be in DC for what will be the 2nd most historic inauguration. While I do not agree with his politics I do hope and pray that President Obama will be able to inspire a nation that desperately needs inspiration.
Washington's big day will always be the biggest. Without the first, and what it represented, there would be no inauguration of America's first black president. With all its many issues and past sins, slavery being chief among them, this…

Don’t know if you’ve seen the Caroline Kennedy interview, aka the “You Know Video”, in which she said “you know” way too many times (138, to be exact) in under 3 minutes. It was painful to listen to and difficult to understand. some people call these "verbal tics", but I call them "fillers". We all use fillers from time to time during casual conversations, still the real reason she struggled so much was that she hadn’t prepared for any interview, not just that one. The “fillers” became her defau…

A townhall meeting took place today. The goal of the panel discussion, hosted by Community Health Network, was for President-elect Obama to put more steam to his grassroots healthcare initiatives and to follow through on his campaign promise to America to work on reform. Going into this thing, I was very encouraged by the positive steps being taken, particularly by the Eastside community since I live there. I was impressed with the turnout--a room filled with around 100 people taking individual…

I love the NFL. Everyone should agree that it's the premier professional sports league...and the reason for that is parity. Now in Government a lot of people are going to think that anyone who even discusses policy designed to bring on parity is a (gulp)

We all watched history unfold Tuesday night when we elected our first black President, just 44 years after the Civil Rights Act was passed.
President-Elect Barack Hussein Obama was born three years before the crucial piece of legislation that eventually paved the way for him to become President of the United States. So for everyone who thought we would never see a black President in our lifetime, you can imagine Obama's excitement when he did.
I kept my…

I got a call on Monday, would I do a catering for Tuesday? I almost said no, well at first I did say no. It was for 60 and I thought they were talking lunch. No they just needed a morning snack with coffee, tea and hot cider. Ok. Delivered to the airport at 10AM, Ok. Who is this for, I ask?
We need to have something for the press and staff when they get in town with Obama.
I did not drop the phone.
I said yes of course I can do this.
I baked all day Monday and into the night. Y…
