Tricia Meyer Cheap Publicity? Check Out Your School's PTO

As both the incoming president of my school's Parent Teacher Organization as well as a small business owner, I wanted to tell everyone about some ways to get cheap publicity while at the same time helping out in your community. School PTOs (PTAs) do a number of different fundraisers throughout the year. In this economy, we are having to get more and more creative. Often a one-night fundraiser is successful for us if we make even $100-200. What are some ways that you can get your business in fro… Continue

(Mark is one of the pastors of our home church, Zionsville Fellowship.) As part of their fund raising efforts, they are hosting another gigantic garage sale this weekend. Read more... Continue

Casey Mullins March for Babies this Sunday, in memory of Madeline Alice Spohr.

If you follow my blog at all then you will know I was in LA this past week with my best friend after her 17 month old daughter passed away. Madeline was born at 29 weeks and was kept alive and thriving for 17 months thanks to the research done by the March of Dimes. I had this march set up before Maddie passed and it's even more important to me now. Maddie's mom Heather's team has raised over $40K in Maddie's memory, our team goal is a little lower, only $2K… Continue

Raquel Richardson Get better every day

I'm working with an amazing team for Shanna's Story. When we began our journey to tell the story and raise funds for Josiah Nelson and the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, we didn't really know each other well. Now just a couple weeks shy of the campaign completion, we have grown together. Our biggest area of growth is our group… Continue

Raquel Richardson The Start of Shanna's Story

A few weeks ago I was approached by the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society to participate in a fundraiser for their research, cause and mission. The typical gala fundraiser was being replaced with a compeititon for Woman/Man of the Year with local men and women competing for the title over a nine week period. Then I met Stacia Renbarger (she and her husband own Prostar Consulting - great outsourced payroll service yo… Continue

Erik Deckers Did they 'blah blah' fundraising? You can't 'blah blah' fundraising.

Imagine receiving this fundraising letter from your alma mater: With the recent economic downturn and loan crisis, it has become even more important for Framingham State College to receive your support. Blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah. That's the letter the Framingham Alumni Association sent out to thousands of their recent graduates this past September. A letter that has since become known as the "blah blah" letter. What did the alums… Continue

Jennifer Wiedenhaupt So this is blogging...

Hello! Well, this is my first attempt at using a blog. First off, I must say I love the concept of Smaller Indiana! Up until now I've sat back and 'observed' but now I'm ready to get involved! I'm still struggling with what exactly is the benefit of having a blog and how can I use it most effectively? So, I ask all of you what your thoughts and suggestions are?! Next, a little about myself...I work for a wonderful organization called Sports World Ministries. I plan our board conferences and ban… Continue
