Serina Kelly A Blog is not an Ad, It's a Conversation

Have you seen a blog post that looks like they took the text from their latest ad and just dumped into the blog? Or a press release? Maybe a brochure? Or even a catalog item or items? Please don’t do that! But you want to use your blog to promote your business (honestly, that’s why most businesses do a blog, right?). You can. Just be original. Re-write it! Make it a casual tone rather than a “push the message out” tone. Write it in first person; add some fluff or personal statements. Be friend… Continue

Sara Croft Since when did job duties become so vague?

I remember when I first looked over the details of a job I was applying for, one that eventually became my full-time career. There was a list of ten items that briefly mentioned my job duties: coordinate quarterly trainings and newsletters, keep website content current, plan and coordinate an annual conference, etc. As if that was not enough in itself, the very last (and very small box) said "various other tasks." Who knew that various meant so much? I'm currently working on getting equipment so… Continue

Mike Magan Working (and blogging) for the Man

If I've met you in person through a Smaller Indiana event I was representing me, myself and I: Penpoint Communications Studio. I served as a Marketing Consultant from 2001-2009 and enjoyed the diversity of projects and clients I was blessed to work with. I not only loved what I did, but who I had become - a valued sole practioner living on 100 percent commission. The romance of working on HD video or a press release from an office with antque floors, away from home was almost as great as gettin… Continue

Shawn Neal Ghost Blogging and Social Media Outsourcing

I have revised this post because I made a commitment to myself and this community that I would blog helpful and informative content. I felt that my original post crossed the line and became more of an argument that could be argued endlessly between ghost bloggers and myself. I don't wish to inspire that type of dialogue. Since blogging and social media provide a great opportunity to establish brand loyalty, customer service, customer confidence, and direct communication, they need to be handled… Continue

Ernest Rando Looking for Twinternship with local indiana Companies or Organizations.

Greetings my name is Ernest Rando. Last night I read an article in the NY Times: “Tweeting Becomes a Summer Job Opportunity” By STEPHANIE CLIFFORD Published: April 19, 2009 in reference to Pizza Hut Inc’s latest job opportunity. Then I got to thinking… (I am always thinking) How many companies in central Indiana could possibly benefit from such a summer marketing campaign? How many local Indiana Events are going on between now and the fall. How many smaller companies out there have important com… Continue

Mark Sapusek Website Expressions

Everyone nowadays seems to have a blog or a means of expressing themselves online. Why don't all companies have blogs to communicate with their clients and potential clients? It all comes down to time. Running a small business leaves very little time for blog posting and communicating (and very little time for sales or business management either), but these are all very important parts of owning and running a small business. Even though I think blogging is great and having a blog or other news… Continue

These are inside sales positions and we are looking for outgoing people with around 2 years of sales experience. doesn't really matter what you have been selling. Mike Seidle Blog Ghost Writing, Good or Bad?

Tom Deeter recently posted an article on ghost writing. His premise is that if President Obama's doesn't write his own speeches, why should you write your own blog? "There’s a bit of debate about whether or not to hire ghost writers for a business blog or, as I like to call them, “phost writers“. And while I understand the arguments against it, esContinue

Cindy Hartman Why I spend time on Twitter

My first response when people ask me why I spend time on Twitter is to say I'm not "spending time" as that term usually implies. To me, spending time means wasting time. I'm promoting my home inventory business by. I'm connecting. I'm marketing. I'm meeting people who I can help and who can help me. For instance, I met J.Sewell Perkins (@TheSCICoach) on Twitter. She wrote her 1st-person (very hilarious)… Continue

Milo Curtis Blogging Won't Make People Care

Just because you started a blog, doesn't mean the rest of the world is going to care. I've been pastoring since 1999, and I've fallen into the delusional thinking that if I found the right program/method, prayed hard, my ministry would grow and life would be good. Those that pastor know exactly what I mean. You know the scene. We go to a conference, hear about a church that implemented P… Continue
