Do you remember the first time you tried to convince your parents to say yes? Maybe you were asked by a friend to sleep over, or wanted that new red bike for your birthday. Immediately, you may have thought to yourself, what can I say to convince my parents to say yes? You began an internal search for ways to make the situation a win-win for both of you. When you approached them, you listed reasons why it would be a favorable decision. You made endless promises to be on best behavior. As you con…

Hello everyone,
I thought that I would pass along an interesting article about social media as a marketing tool. It is interesting to learn that small businesses may be able to level the playing field when it comes to marketing. Marketing campaigns cost hundreds or thousands of dollars, but social media tools such as twitter and facebook are free.
Here is a quote from the article by Rebecca Lieb: "Meanwhile, sessions on social media here in San Jose are packed -- and they're packed primarily w…

We just finished a great show in Mont Alto PA last night. We had about 6 people run out of the room. We freaked them out. They came back in to see the rest of the show though! We have another show tonight in Painesville OH. I just have a couple of minutes before we unload and start set-up. We love performing our Mind Tripping show.

Tom and I have worked closely together on OFF THE CUFF for over two years, but sometimes it only seems like 25. Our negativity with each other on this episode is balanced by some positive Viewer Mail. Sure, YOU like us. You don't work with us.

It didn't take long for Tom to look around his new home at WZPL and notice Dave Smiley's Brown Jacket. (He's very observant, which is a more polite way for me to say obsessive-compulsive.) So he wrote a parody song, and we sang it, and we did some "moves" and people stared while we were taping it all around Indianapolis. Thanks to my old friends at
Beef & Boards for the threads, and to the…

I've written about OTC on SI a bunch. Now that our Upgrade is complete, Tom Davis and I are excited that OFF THE CUFF is now more easily shared by the 5 or 6 people who actually like it. Visit us in the "z-tv" section of the new
wzpl web site. When you land on a CUFF, you (finally!) have the option of sharing it via email, posting a direct link on your Facebook, or embedding it into your blog. I'd like you to share Paul & Tom. Mrs. Poteet and…

I went to the Indy Baby and Toddler expo this weekend with my hubend, 5yr daughter and two yr old son. We had a blast! The exhibitors were fantastic! A huge verity of every thing parents of little ones need. The Hugga a Bug Face painting was top notch as always. They also did a very cool expecting baby belly painting! They painted a few ladies baby bumps and it was very cool! Aunt Ruthie's Tea Time hosted a Princess Tea party that was strait out of a fairy tale. My husband and daughter attended…

“Logic will get you from A to B. Imagination will take you everywhere.”
- Albert Einstein
On the recommendation of good friend, I purchased and started reading Einstein, His Life and Universe by Walter Isaacson. After starting the book, I can't help but realize the lessons from Mr. Einstein that can be transferred into business.
From the beginning, Einstein was a curious person with a continual thirst for knowledge. I think we tend to forget in business...…

I was pleasantly surprised by the Beef & Boards Theater’s production of The Producers. You know how you see a film trailer and you get all excited about it, only to find you have already seen all the good stuff in a short, action-packed trailer??? Since I have seen both of the wildly successful film versions of The Producers, I thought I would spend the evening enjoying more of the same, but in person. Hence, my pleasant surprise. The portrayal of the show’s characters was distinctly differe…

Yesterday I had the good fortune to attend the Smaller Indiana BlogIN. I've been debating about whether it would make sense to have a separate blog on Smaller Indiana. I have another blog that I write for Women & Hi Tech and wondered what would be the benefit of putting the time into writing another.
Obviously, I decided that it did make sense to have a Smaller Indiana blog. The Women & Hi Tech blog is focused on a specific topic each month. Because of this I sometimes feel a bit constr…
