Adoption Fund Raising Efforts

Our good friends, Mark and Diane are in the midst of the adoption process and hope to bring home their little girl from Ukraine by the fall or, at the very least, later this year. (Mark is one of the pastors of our home church, Zionsville Fellowship.) As part of their fund raising efforts, they are hosting another gigantic garage sale this weekend.

The Wait

There's an oldie but a goodie by Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers where he sings, "The waiting is the hardest part." This is where we are right now... waiting. And we know this is just the first stage of waiting! But we're ok with that.

We sent off our application for adoption yesterday. We did so after much consideration and prayer about which agency to use.

Getting Started with Adoption - Guest Blogger

This blog was written by my friend, Brooke Randolph. I met Brooke through Smaller Indiana (www.smallerindiana.com). Our initial meeting was to discuss a book project on Posttraumatic Stress Disorder. Brooke is a licensed therapist and is experienced in the treatment of trauma. But through our conversation, I learned that she is also the Director of Adoption Preparation at MLJ Adoptions, Inc. I asked her to prepare a blog about what newcomers to the ado… Continue

The Wound is Still Fresh

I recently saw an interview with (former NY City) Mayor Rudy Guilliani. He mentioned that he thinks about 9/11 every single day. In many ways, so do I. For the people who were there (like me), it is a wound that will never fully heal. And the Barack Obama Administration has decided to pick at the scab, open it up and pour in a ton of salt.

He claims innocence; that he didn’t know anything about it. But I just can’t seem to swallow that pill. How can the President of the United States NOT know w… Continue

The Olive Branch

From Old Testament times and ancient Greece and Rome to the present day, the olive branch has symbolized peace and gestures of reconciliation and goodwill.

Regardless of how the olive branch got its meaning, peace and goodwill are in short supply, whether we are considering the world as a whole or our individual relationships.

Relationships are too important to lose due to conflict. The Olive Branch is where people find peace in relationships.

All of us are involved in conflict at one time or… Continue

Hi Theresia,
I read about the family trying to raise funds for the adoption of their little girl. If they still need to do a fundraiser, I can help them. My email is swtpoppins@att.net. Website www.sweetpoppins.com

Hello, I am new to Smaller Indiana and thought I would reach out to connect and say hello. My name is Brandon and I am the Director for Musical Medicine. We build music libraries for hospitals.

Are you planning on attending the Chocolate Blues and Business Networking Festival next Thursday? I hear it's going to be huge, they expect about 1,500 people to attend. It should be a great networking day! I have free tickets, if you need a ticket, let me know and I'll email you one. If you want more details about it, it's listed under events on the 26th.

Have a good day and I look forward to networking with you. Please let me know if I can ever do anything for you,
Brandon

Not sure what sorts of projects you're working on now, but if you're ever interested in telling some local stories give me a ring at The History Press (www.historypress.net) and maybe we can make something happen.

A few things to consider before joining Smaller Indiana:

1. We want to know the real you...Please use your real name (first and last) when you sign up, or we cannot open your account

2. We want to know the real you...Please do NOT use your Smaller Indiana blog for blatant self promotion

3. We want to see your smiling face...Please do not use logos or commercial images for your profile photo

4. Events should be posted in the events calendar, not inside blog posts

5. Please do NOT post commercial video (demo reels), or Corporate Website promotions in your blog

6. You can post pretty much anything you want on your own personal page (self promotion, etc), and you can change the style of your personal profile page to reflect your corporate identification if you so choose.

7. Smaller Indiana is supported by its members, and by corporate sponsors. If you're interested in learning more about sponsorship, please call Pat Coyle at 317 332 7878.
