Why join Smaller Indiana? What are you hoping to experience here ?
My husband Josh and I have a small farm with sheep, goats, ducks, chickens, a llama, geese and more, we are trying to do the sustanable farming thing for our family. AND are working towards building a rural village in central Indiana, or revitalizing the one we are in (Fortville). We love communities designed after small agricultural villages in Europe.
We are incorporating green building, sustainably, small businesses, shops, offices, and cottage industry. There will also be senior living cottages, assisted living, and small farms. The goal is to create a beautiful, vibrant local community for all generations.

People often ask us "Why Indiana?" Our roots are here and we have vision for this state. We want to connect with others who share our vision for a better Indiana.

A moment of insight into my autistic mind...

Not long after I found out that I had Asperger's Syndrome I wrote down these words to help me sort out my odd way of seeing the world, and my quirky way of defining life... some of these feeling are now just childhood memories some are very present...

If Random Words could define Asperger’s Syndrome…

“Perfection” is a box of new crayons. “Sadness” is opening my special box of new crayons and discovering them missing, used and broken.

Trading Post open on Saturday!

The Simpler Times
Trading Post
Saturday, January 17th
at 2:30pm

Hi Everyone,

Years ago our family started a weekly Trading Day where folks from all over central Indiana could get together to swap things... homemade goods, homegrown veggies, good books, fabric scraps, children's clothing, and even services like haircuts, tutoring and pottery classes. Points were earned by sharing with others in the co-op.

Several families in the community would like to participate in Trading Days once ag… Continue

Expecting Baby #8 !

Hi,

We just found out that baby #8 is on the way. So far we have one son and six daughters. I'm very happy to be able to welcome another child into our happy family. Many people wonder why we want so many kids, the answer is very simple... So many children are growing up in broken homes, with parents who don't like eachother, and in families where the parents don't have much time for the children. So I think that families that are full of love should be the most productive. We feel so blessed t… Continue

Your vision is amazing and I'd like to see how both myself and my company can be apart of your vision. Revitalizing Indiana and bring family into the mix is a position everyone should take strongly if they call Indiana their home!

God has apparently Blessed you and your loved ones. I obviously can't add anything to that but a "thank you" for sharing your vision and life with us.

Sarah,
I wanted you to know that I look forward to your posts and discussions! Don't appologize for putting your opinion out there for everyone to see. Maybe if more people had the courage to post or reply then we wouldn't have the divides we do in this country!

Keep writing and I'll keep reading,
Jeff

Hi, Sarah! I just responded to your discussion about President-Elect Obama and national security.

It seems that my rhetorical style got garbled in translation between my brain and SI, and I can see now how it might have seemed as though I was questioning your parenting skills. Far from it -- I think your commitment to your family (seven kids!) is exemplary, and I apologize for writing something that could even be misconstrued as critical. (And, in my rebuttal to Steve Stuck, I mention Simpler Times Village -- again, not as a criticism of you or of your cool plan for that property, but as an illustration of what it's like to be unfairly and prematurely criticized.)

I do think we disagree on President-Elect Obama, and I hope you'll give him a chance. But, again, I apologize for being unclear in my writing, to the extent that Steve and Thomas (so far) misunderstood what I was trying to convey.

Best wishes for a beautiful day,
Scott
