Nice article in today's Star, Sara. You live a rich and interesting life.

How wonderfully interesting. Thank you for sharing your info. My branch of the family tree must have immigrated several generations earlier. My roots are decidedly central Indiana. I would have to go back five or six generations to find family that lived in the Carolinas. I'm certain the roots go back to Ireland then, Scotland, but I could never trace them back that far.

My wife's name is Laura and she pronounces it Lara, perhaps rhyming with your first name.

I've never been to Paducah, but I understand that the county was named after someone who never lived there and had no real connection with the county. It doesn't matter to me as long as I can find a t-shirt or a hat that reads "Keep McCracken Clean." That's priceless!

It's a pleasure to "meet" you and perhaps someday, I'll be fortunate enough to see your work.

I live and work in Columbus and I also work in Indy and Bloomington. I once heard of a Hoosier with the same name as mine. But he pronounces his first name "KAY-vin" instead of the more common "KE-vin". Anyway, when I saw "McCrcken" I became curious about your pronounciation and how the spelling evolved.

Sara--I noticed your name (for obvious reasons) and am wildly curious about the spelling and pronunciation. Can you tell me about how the spelling evolved and how you pronounce your last name? I know this is an odd comment & question, but my curiosity is greater than my reticence.

Sara: I'm a "novice" metal worker. Have been making some garden metal art from recycled metal barn siding. Have my own equipment but not sure what to do with it. Live on the northside. Would love to meet with you and discuss our common interests. I've also taking some painting classes. I do interior design, have my professional staging designation and I sell real estate full time.

Hi, Sara! I am just now getting back into the SI site after being blocked by ning for months. I didn't do anything bad except get fired from my job and from the computer I used to use there. So I couldn't get back in for the longest time. Anyway love to see you when you get back & get circulating again. Love to see your studio sometime, too.
