Indiana State Fair - a Winning Experience!

I'm thrilled and pleased to follow in my family tradition of participating in the local fair. From my earliest days in small-town Georgetown, Illinois, I attended the Georgetown Fair with my two sisters and mom & dad. Grandma often attended, too, spending most of her time volunteering in… Continue

Seven things you might not know about me

1. I recently went into business for myself making jewelry and sculpture after losing my job last Fall ('08) as a construction project manager for a real estate management company. I was involved as the project manager for the Indianapolis Museum of Art expansion in 2005. I loved it but I love making things more.
1. I care more about art than money. I once bought a painting instead of a refrigerator and have never regretted it.
3. I am a total tool geek. I have an insane obsession with hand tool… Continue

Touched by an Angel

Isn't it great when an angel appears to you during your normal everyday existence? Tonight I received an email note from my friend, fellow metalsmith and mentor, Ginger Meek Allen. I met Ginger during a week-long intensive metalsmithing/jewelry making class at the Arrowmont school in Gatlinburg, Tennessee this spring. Ginger owns her own thriving metalsmithing business - something I aspire to do. Ginger just started a blog and sent me and fellow Arrowmont alums a link to it. I read it and knew i… Continue

Nancy! Looking forward to our coffee this week! I just posted some artwork on my page that my daughter and I did over spring break. It was so fun to do together; we both had paintbrushes and were literally painting on the same canvas - trying not to get in each others way. We are both art nerds.
BTW, your website has some beautiful new creations since the last time that I looked. Beautiful stuff!

The piece pictured above is so sculptural, so surreal - a fabulous work. Instead of a rock in a frame, it's an idea/a composition in a frame. Very nice. I'm glad I happened to stop by to say hello. It's been a real treat. I love surprises.
