Autentico in Indy - Where Anglos Fear to Tread!

The purpose of this group is to identify and meet up at authentic Mexican, Central and South American restaurants in Central Indiana. One rule: EAT LOCAL (no chains). Thanks DDavis And ABall for guidance!

How Do I Change Something I've Been Doing for 38 Years?

Over the last few years as I've transitioned out of a marketing consultancy during a brutal recession, anxiety has been a constant companion. It was in my effort to control it that I realized that I've been a "Nervous Nelly" from birth.

That's right, the phrase "What If . . . " has always been the first question I've asked myself when faced with uncertainty. While it is important to gather information, I sometimes can overdo it, trying to chart every course to the point where I'm… Continue

YOU RATE IT - My first attempt at creating a viral video to promote a conference

As marketing copywriter for AOTMP, I also oversee the evolution of the company's social media outreach.

AOTMP targets Fortune 1000 firms to help them improve the management of their telecom and/or wireless environment. Our conference, which brings together about 100 or so enterprise clients each year, is a chance to meet them in person, share their experiences with peers and discuss best practices.

To promote the conference we employed the ways that worked in the past,… Continue

Working (and blogging) for the Man

If I've met you in person through a Smaller Indiana event I was representing me, myself and I: Penpoint Communications Studio. I served as a Marketing Consultant from 2001-2009 and enjoyed the diversity of projects and clients I was blessed to work with.

I not only loved what I did, but who I had become - a valued sole practioner living on 100 percent commission. The romance of working on HD video or a press release from an office with antque floors, away from home was almost as… Continue

YOU WON'T KNOW, IF YOU DON'T GO . . . to the Smaller Indiana Bigger Ideas Conference

Did you Know Jebediah Coyle, Pat Coyle's great, great, great, great, great, great, great grandfather put together something very similar to the Smaller Indiana Bigger Ideas Conference back in the 1760s?

That's right! It was called the "Smaller Colonies, Grandiose Ideas Perfunctionary." Now, Imagine if Benjamin Franklin, who discovered electricity and invented bifocals, had met Thomas Edision, who invented the light bulb? Society would have been "enlightened" much sooner and we may… Continue

If you make a Provocative Statement - be prepared to back it up.

Local web marketing and "connections company" Media Sauce is a true gem. We are lucky to have innovate firms like them, along with Exact Target, Firebelly, RoudPeg, Brandswag and others who frequent SI and are at the vanguard of the social media revolution.

But just because you have successful visionaries plugged into the same surge suppressor doesn't mean your statements are correct. A friend of mine says "everyone has a right to be wrong," while this may be true, we also have the… Continue

Yeah, I'm usually here a lot more frequently. Big PC problems in April has curtailed some of my normal social media activities. ;-)

Not sure where all you've been before. I'm a big fan of Pancho's but it's pretty well known now. There's a place at English and Sherman (SE side) that has good and cheap burritos and three interesting salsas. I think it's called El Pollo Allegre, but I'm not sure.

Apologies, but I caught your message after the fact. Couldn't have gone anyway—had to provide vehicular transportation for the progeny to attend the educational institution.

A few things to consider before joining Smaller Indiana:
1. Please use your real name (first and last) when you sign up, or we cannot open your account

2. Please do not use logos or commercial images for your profile photo

3. Events should be posted in the events calendar

4. You can post pretty much anything you want on your own personal page (self promotion, etc), and you can change the style of your personal profile page to reflect your corporate identification if you so choose.

5. Please keep all comments civil and polite. It's OK to feel strongly about a subject, and it's OK to be critical of ideas, but please refrain from personal attacks of any kind.

If you witness or experience any issues, please contact admin@smallerindiana.com and we will look into the matter.

6. "Blatant self-promotion" is discouraged on SI, and "spam" is not welcome. Please be considerate of your fellow members.

7. Display ads (graphic banners designed to promote your business) can only live on your own profile page, unless you are an approved sponsor of Sponsor of Smaller Indiana.

Smaller Indiana is supported by its members, and by corporate sponsors. If you're interested in learning more about sponsorship, please call Pat Coyle at 317 332 7878.
