Givnig Sum is an organization focused on mobilizing professionals in Indianapolis to make a difference in our community. We do this through giving a non profit in town $50,000, as well as our time and our voice each year. We also offer many incredible, fun, and educational events including....

* Panel discussions with the leaders in the environment, education, economic development, the arts, and health and human services discuss innovative solutions with our members. Previous panels have included David Harris of the Mind Trust, Dean Illingworth of Habitat for Humanity, David Forsell of Keep Indianapolis Beautiful and more.

* Leadership lunches with Mayor Bart Peterson , Dr. Eugene Tempel of the IU Foundation and the IU School of Philanthropy, and many more. Have discussions with these and other leaders in intimate, laid back settings.

* The Second annual "Ale Yea" microbrew festival. Last year's event raised almost $10,000 and this year is going to be even better!

* Going through over 100 organizations to see which one is innovative enough to be the recipient of $50,000 and our partnership for 2009.

* Enjoying fun, social, and volunteer events with members who share the passion of wanting to make a difference in the community.

* Mingle and network with fellow leaders from the for profit, government, and non profit sectors through membership.

I'm going to hit the gym, then might shop a bit. I'm getting over a cold that I've been fighting for 2 1/2 weeks now (my goodness!), so I'll be laying low this weekend, then heading north to see the parents for a few days. Take care and enjoy your "carb day" :)

Hi Marty! It would be GREAT to talk with you! I have a PR major, a Spanish minor & experience in public relations, marketing, graphic design, communication, promotion & event planning. I want to find a non-profit or church to work for using any or all of those skills for something I believe in. I'd love to know if you have any tips or ideas for me! Thanks so much! :)

Hi, Marty! So I've been a little slow getting back to Smaller Indiana, but thought I would get back to you nevertheless. If the slow part is any indication, I'm keeping busy (that whole working full time and doing my master's degree full time is a bit much - you might know about that work/school juggling act). Congrats on your upcoming graduation!! I'll be done next May, which I'm sure will be here before I know it. =) What is your master's in?
