Hello! My name's Rachel. I was browsing members and saw your profile. I have a degree in Psychology, and am involved in the fine arts as well. Its somewhat of an unusual combination, so I figured I would introduce myself.

Hey Lauren, I have my Masters in Dance/movement Therapy which is a sister to Art therapy. We use movement and the body as tools for diagnosis, exploration and change much the same ways a Visual Art Therapist uses art supplies but with the added benefit of being able to practice and embody the change. I have trained Masters level Ph D. students and creative arts therapist of all disciplines, all over the country. Currently in my private practice I am focused on coaching folks in finding ways to release tension or build energy in the moment of a stressful situation. We build together Moving Meditation sequence. It is so powerful for people and a natural tool for the body and mind to develop. I would be glad to talk with you about the work. Coffee maybe?

Do you have any graphic design (GD) knowledge and skills? GD is the main applied side of fine art and design where you'll find employment. Aside from this you might try art museums and art centers for exhibits coordination/installation positions and education positions (workshops and classes). Art galleries might also be an avenue to try, although I'm not sure what type of hourly rate you could make at this. I don't know the galleries in Indy very well but you might try the Indianapolis Art Center up in Broad Ripple, the Indianapolis Art Museum up near the pyramids (www.imamuseum.org) and the Eiteljorg downtown (www.eiteljorg.org) near White River Gardens. Also try these links... http://www.pivotgallery.com/ and http://www.indy.com/culture

Hi Lauren,
With those two fields maybe art therapy would be a good option. I'm not sure how many positions there are around the area, though.
