Hey Jeff, thanks for the note -- I'd certainly welcome your input as a DBA "student." Alumni outreach isn't limited just to undergrads! Hope to catch up with you sometime for another Indy meetup. Take care.

Sounds good, Jeff. You seem to have Indy's best wedding event planner. Jenni Farrell speaks very highly of you and the enjoyment she derives in working with you on a personal and professional basis. Let's connect tomorrow.

Thanks for getting in touch...I need to update my info on here and post my resume.

My background is administrative/marketing work mainly in the real estate and construction industries. I just recently got laid off from my position w/Paragon Companies, a commercial real estate/General Contracting firm.

If you know of anything I would welcome any suggestions.

Thank you,

Is "Business Development" just a Fancy Word for Sales?

When you see a job posted for "business development," what does that mean? Is it sales? Is it commission only? Is it strategic? What might it involve? Here's a thought about sales vs. business development.

What are Sales Ethics today?

While spending (too many) months on an ethics project for my doctoral program, I was looking at the discussion of sales ethics on the web. There's some out there, but shamefully little. It made me start to ask,

What is the state of ethics in selling today?

Are we seeing more ethical behavior after all the big companies are getting thumped? Or is the pressure still to perform no matter what it takes? How are sales professionals responding to unethical requests? How are buyers responding to unet… Continue

Can We Network Too Much?

Networking has become a very popular way to find business opportunities through relationships and expanding one's contact sphere. For some, networking has also become a pastime and the line between work and play has become blurred. That made me wonder, is it possible to network too much? How much networking should we do? What are we trying to accomplish?

Here's some thoughts on Too Much NContinue

Superheroes and Perceived Expertise

Recently we talked about superheroes having arch enemies that consume the majority of their time and attention. Who is your arch enemy? What is in the way or between you and wild financial success?

When you identify one major roadblock or one major enemy between you and unbridled financial success, you can focus all of your attention on that roadblock or enemy. It sounds simple and it really is. Success is not about being the smartest person in the world. Success is about being known as the mos… Continue

You are a Superhero

Defining Your Market

You’re superman or superwoman—able to conquer tough prospects with ease. Bring them on! Any and all! You know no fear, and any block or obstacle can be easily scaled or crushed. No foe is too great.

OK, maybe you’re not superman or superwoman. But wait. Whether you are or not, do you really want to take on all foes? Do you really want to have to fight every enemy out there? What if you could focus your energy on one enemy? One nemesis? One competitor?
