Hello All, Today I read about the Gatorade company replacing the wood pallets they use for shipping their product to plastic ones. They gave several reasons and it made me wonder if any companies in Hendricks County are doing this as well. Then ...

I actually had a friend who was a car salesperson in MI. She out-sold most of the male salespeople and that created quite a bit of hostility toward her in-house. Her customers were most often repeat customers and referrals. She left the industry b...

Business is awful quiet out there

The last couple of weeks have been quite busy with less time to spend just strolling through Smaller Indiana. It seems the same must be true of others; at least those in the groups and areas I frequent. I am hoping that the quiet tone indicates people are busy with their work and businesses, not simply getting in that last little vacation before school begins - although that does sound like fun! Hope springs eternal around here.

But my thought is this: It is especially at the busy times in our… Continue

The Power of a Little Vision

I have been meeting and talking with a lot of people lately. Not just any sort of people, but small business owners, entreprenueurs. I am so struck with them. The energy they radiate almost makes them glow. The excitement in their voices when they talk about their businesses reminds me of my nephew talking about his new baby girl. The more excited they get, the faster they talk. The faster they talk, the more they have to say. Every once in a while when they pause to catch a breath their eyes ga… Continue

Home and Workplace - The Beauty of Being Both

At the tender age of 50+ I find I am making more discoveries now than in most other times of my life. I don't know if it is because I am treading new water, or if I just have the time to savor the discoveries. For whatever reason, each discovery is as surprising as feeling the soft velvet-ness of a stingray. This week the discovery I am relishing is that of working from home.

Until this last week I was viewing it more as a prison of isolation, I was constantly yearning for contact from the outs… Continue

Patience and Perseverence are Tech Skills

You know, sometimes you just have to keep trying something to make it work. Sometimes it is like hitting a nail with a hammer. You just keep swatting and eventually it strikes properly and the nail gets driven in. And so the dilemma with the reclining picture gets resolved. I thought I was doing the same thing I had done about fifteen times before, but somehow, some way it must have been different, because, Viola! I no longer recline in my profile photo. Appearing upright, I can now retire and k… Continue

Easily Flummoxed by All the Technical Possibilities

I suppose that just about says it all. There are times when I just want to reach through the monitor and move something - just a little bit - and can't find the "easy" button that will magically do what I want. It is so frustrating that I often opt for paper and pencil when I know the task would be so much faster and easier to do on the computer - IF I ONLY KNEW HOW!! Yes, I know that is screeching, but at this moment, that is what I want to do!

Case in point: I finally uploaded some of my phot… Continue

Hi Elaine, nice to see you here. How is the article coming? You might want to take a look at IBN. I'll attach my blog on it. Good Morning, I just read your profile and thought as a small business professional you might be interested in our local business network (IBN). Indiana Business Network has chapters all over the state. Locally we meet in Plainfield every Wednesday morning at 10am. There is no cost or obligation to check it out and the monthly dues are only $25.00. I joined recently and it is by fare the least expensive means of lead generation that I've found. I'd be happy to answer any questions if you are interested.
