Spreading the word about Smoosier-ness to nonprofit pros

At Indianapolis Nonprofit Examiner, I'm encouraging nonprofit staff members to check out Smaller Indiana for the networking, training and advertising opportunities. With their limited budgets, they can use all the low-cost outlets they can get, and I know a number of nonprofit professionals on SI have benefited from their membership here.… Continue

Afternoon movies aren't for the insecure

Now that I'm working for myself, I have the opportunity to see movies during the weekday. It's becoming a stereotypical experience, and my recent visit to the Heartland Film Festival was no exception.

Shorts Collection compresses range of emotion into less than 90 minutes

Usually, going to a movie is a 2-hour escape from reality. You go to laugh, to cry, to be inspired; sometimes you’re bored or disappointed. With the Shorts Collection 3 at the Heartland Film Festival, I got a little of everything.

The longest films were “The Phone Book” at 23 minutes and “A Drop of Life” at 16. The others each were 10 minutes or less. Seeing seven movies in less than 90 minutes would make a great first date – you’d have a lot to discuss over drinks afterward.

Attending my first Smaller Indiana event

I went to my second meeting of a group of Smoosiers today (my first was the Writers Group), and I loved it! I met old friends, made a couple of new ones, hopefully made a new business contact and thoroughly enjoyed myself. If any of you have been meaning to go to a Smaller Indiana event, I encourage you to do so. Thanks, Pat Coyle, for everything you've created with this network.

SMaller Indiana event tomorrow: maybe you need to "register" for a ticket? I just did. That wasn't a requirement early on but just noticed it when I checked in for details.
