Be Indypendent is a citywide movement that celebrates and supports all things unique to Indianapolis. From art to coffee shops, if it's original to Indy then it's Indypendent!

We are revisiting the Tie Dye Grill on Friday the 20th at 1:00. It's at either 12th or 13th and Shadeland. East side of Shadeland in a non-descript, 1 story office building. I think next to an insurance agent or attorney.

I know people in their 60's and 70's who are cool. If you have to ask, if you care, if you try, then you never had it or you lost it long ago. (that would be the royal you) Be cool.

As I have gotten more involved in the Arts community in Indianapolis and more involved in making my own art over the past 6 - 7 years, I have found that my solutions to problems/issues/projects at my day job have become more creative. I credit tha...

Seven Things You Might Not Know About Me; Or, Seven Things Expiring Minds Want to Know

1. In 1977, the sun, the moon, the stars and my parents' pocketbook aligned and I was on my way to spend a year in Israel. They gladly paid for my plane ticket (were they trying to get rid of me? hmmmm....) I spent a year in a program sponsored by the Israeli government which was based on Peace Corps. As I was preparing to matriculate from grad school #1 (see below), I mentioned to an instructor that I was applying to the Peace Corps to go to Madagascar (this was before the cartoon). He suggeste… Continue

What's Up with McCain's Concession Speech

Is it just me or did McCain sound racist in his concession speech? It sure seemed to me that he over focused on Obama's race. What the h%^* does a candidate's race have to do with anything?

Did the 3rd Debate Change Your Vote?

After watching the 3rd debate my choice for President has not changed. What about your choice? BEFORE YOU ANSWER HERE'S THE RULE FOR PARTICIPATING IN THIS BLOG: DO NOT SAY, INDICATE OR OTHERWISE INTIMATE WHO YOU ARE VOTING FOR. What I am interested in is whether or not the debate actually changed opinions, strengthened already existing opinions or had no affect. Got it?

Political Polls or How Do You Spell Libertarian

This evening I got a call from 999-999-9999/Out of Area (per my caller ID). I was skeptical but feeling feisty after a particularly grueling day at work so I answered. Too bad for the caller. It was a political poll taker and he immediately launched into his questions. Before I had a chance to think he asked my presidential choice - Obama or McCain? I told him (I won't tell you because it's not germane to my post). Then he asked about my gubernatorial choice - Daniels or Long-Thompson. But by th… Continue

The Magical Worlds of Andrea Merlyn and Madame Esmerelda

I had fun tonight at my 6th show of the Fringe season. The magicians I sat with had fun tonight. The other Fringe actors I sat with had fun tonight. Taylor Martin had fun tonight. And what makes this last comment amazing magical is that after the revealing light at the beginning of the last show (you'll have to read the blog on the last show) a trick went bad tonight but yet Andrea picked back up… Continue

Andrew,
I apologize for the lag in reply. Unfortunately, I had two family members pass away. So this is the first time I have checked my page. Have you already had a meeting in regards to the wine and food event? I would love to help out in any way.

well Sherri is very difficult to pin down. So I will just have to put it on my todo list to get some dates from her.

Derek is actually finished with Tech School on July 7 and will come home for a few weeks. He is getting charged 8 days to leave and is going to work 2 weeks in the recruiters office here so that time does not get charged. He will then be off to Charleston, SC for his position. Pretty cool that Harrison is off to Japan - on a Boat I assume...

Yea, we all still have jobs for now but Mark's at this point is more in jeopardy then mine. It is pretty bad and if I could find something else I certainly would... Sound like we will have our military men home at the same time for a little while...give Harrison my regards, and maybe we will run into each other sometime while he is home...

Sorry I did not make HITW lunch - things at work are pretty bad right now and on Friday one of my girls is off so I can't go out very far from the office. I saw in the chain of comments The Great Divide - that is really close to me and a possibility if that comes ups...Hope to see you soon somewhere - BTW - how is Harrison doing?
