Can someone point me in the right direction?

I'm in the process of moving from TypePad to WordPress. Once I finish a few more things, I want to switch the domain name on my new WP blog. (I want to maintain the "google juice" from the old blog.)

I've read a ton of stuff online about how to switch domain names and it is all "geek" to me! My number one fear is getting everything all screwed up and not having either the old site or the new site! And then having to hire someone to undo my mess! I’d much rather pay someone up-front to do it right.

Can anyone out there recommend someone to do this for me - plus a little consultation time?

Thanks!

Help!

I was checking my blogs traffic reports and noticed that someone with IP address 213.155.0.32 has been trying for the past 3 days to login. I suspect this is some kind of a bruteforce attack. Has anyone had similar experience? If so what should I do? My blog is at http://www.innovationgene.com

I'm not a junkie yet - but I see it in my future!

I am in the process of migrating from a TypePad blog to WordPress. Not for the feint of heart! I have all my posts migrated, now the task of getting all my image into WP and updating all my old internal links. (Not sure whether I'm going about the links in the right way - whether to do them now or wait until I get my domain changed.)

Anyway, I can see where WP can be addictive - tweaking this and tweaking that!

I joined because I'll probably be using wordpress for a new website project soon.

Also, I'm looking for a web developer that is also trying to sell a house. I've got a buddy that is a realtor and he wants to swap his selling services for some web development.

Edgar, Its all about the widgets for customization and wordpress's ability to add a hierarchy of different pages which give wordpress blogs a full-out website feel.

Why are people so fanaticlal about Wordpress? I look at Blogspot and see similar features and it's asociation with the Google overlord hyperarchy. I'm thinkin of moving my blog out of SI and wondering which is better and why.
