I've been using WordPress MU for about the same amount of time (I think). That's how I'm running WRTV's blogs, they're at rtv6blogs.com, but we frame them within TheIndyChannel.com.

We're using it for several projects, especially where we have multiple sites for a single client. We've also customized the Google Sitemaps plugin to work under MU.

I've used it back when it was still in alpha, but haven't messed with it much since then. I can remember learning way more about setting up wildcard subdomains than I ever wanted to know. :)
