Hi There,
I've got a gift basket business based in Bloomington, IN, but I'm constantly on the lookout for great locally produced food products in Indiana. I can be a litlle picky, but I'm willing to check anything out. So, Please send your suggestions. Gift basket recipients love getting baskets with local products. And if you're so inclined, my website is www.basketmonkey.com. Happy eating!

Good morning! Glad to find this group. I founded Local Food, a web resource for Local Food - http://www.greendove.net/localfood.htm in Bloomington and nearby in the early 90's. The directory has links to locally owned restaurants, food resources for people in need, pub, coffeehouses, csa info, links to gardening resources, etc. It developed as a resource of Green Dove Network. It is an original convener of what is now called "Simply Healthy: Creating Sustainable Communities" Simply Living Fair and Wellness Expo - http://www.indianaholistichealth.net and presented in collaboration with the Indiana Holistic Holistic Health Network, Center for Sustainable Living, Good Life Alternative and Local Growers Guild and others. I say others because we just had our third annual event and have new people on board.

If you have resource suggestion, restaurant reviews, articles of news, please share them by sending to localfood@greendove.net or localfoodbloomington@gmail.com

Looking forward to connecting with you.

Excited to join this group! If you frequent a Broad Ripple-area restaurant that has great local food, I'd love to know, so send me an email with your picks - I recently moved to BR.

Also, if you have a pet, I recommend Eagle Pack as a local food. It's made in Mishawaka, IN, and is very high quality - I fed it to my dogs for years until I went to V-Dog, a vegetarian dog food (yes, it is safe and healthy for my girls.)

There is a new restaurant in downtown Indy that will open around the 15th of December its called A Taste of Tango. I hope you will all try this restaurant. It is food from Argentina. I am very anxious for the opening, I have tried some of the dishes its very good.

Hello everyone! I am new to the group and thought I would introduce myself. I am extremely passionate about local food systems and supporting healthy food for all. I look forward to learning more through this group!

When I was growing up, we ate whatever was in "season". Now that I am living back in Indiana, I am trying to grow in "season" and can/freeze the excess for using in the cold days of winter. I have freshly made applesauce in my freezer, peaches, corn and canned green beans, tomato sauce and pickles in my pantry. I think its great to do as much of this as possible and buy from local growers the things I can not grow myself. Looking for any ideas to expand what I am already doing.

Growing up in small Northern California towns, I was used to eating apples from down the road, or getting veggies from a market nearby. While we did not always have a garden, we always made sure to buy from within our community. I believe eating locally grown food is a decisive way to affect and direct the quality and health of our community through what we decide to bring to our table. Choosing local is the way to go!

This is our first expo, so we're hoping to have a good turnout with hopes we can continue each year. We've got a great selection of vendors coming to support Indiana Foodways Alliance, so you should definitely come if you get the opportunity.

November 22 from 10 a.m. to 2 a.m. at Minnetrista in Muncie...I really hope some of you will be able to attend!

Susan, do you ever have events in Indianapolis. I'd love to attend

Local food is always best, for both the economy and freshness. I love the farmers markets available and have my own organic garden.

Cheers to all the local food suppliers and retailers. My family has been here for the past few years and we have very much enjoyed the options.

Thanks,
Jeff
