Hey every one! We came to Indy for a GBN meeting on Wed. We had lunch at BJava Coffee & Tea, 5510 Lafayette Road.

With us being coffee roasters, we decided to go visit her shop. I would like to share that we really enjoyed our lunch, our toasted turkey sandwiches were very generious, served with fresh multi-grain bread, cheese and spinach. Reid had a cup of homemade spit peas soup. You don't see that often anymore. He loved it. Then we had a wonderfully smooth cup of coffee with BJ. We talked coffee for several hours before heading back to Marion. It is worth the trip to BJ's shop. Coffee people like to meet other coffee people. We are Midwest Organic Coffee Company in Marion. See us on the web:midwestorganiccoffee.com

Hello Coffee lovers. I started Midwest Organic Coffee Company 11 months ago. Things are going well. We now offer 12 single origins and 5 custom blends to our customers. We have been able to add a new coffee every time we reorder our green coffee. Our customer base is all referral business. The taste and quality of our coffee speaks for itself. Customers send there friends to us. We had 37 new customers in December and all from word of mouth. Wow! What a number. We think the difference is the personal service we offer. Everything is custom roasted for each customer. Fresh roasted organic coffee is a taste experience that is unbelievable. Check us out at: midwestorganiccoffee.com

I've got a book on Dutch food traditions of the Hudson Valley in production now and would love to see some proposals for projects documenting Indiana foodways. Any food historians out there?

Years ago I published a magazine directory for the " Indianapolis Independent Restaurant Association" and still think the independents need to have a group to promote them and increase buying power. Other cities do very well with these groups called "Originals". A web site would be a great start...

Two good restaurants in NW Indiana. Pumps on 12 in Michigan City. It is near the National Lakeshore on Route 12. Another is Lincoln Subs in Hobart. The Steelworker special is great.

You can find a number of resources for Slow Food, Local Food, Growing, etc on both the Local Food site at http://www.greendove.net/localfood.htm and the Indiana Holistic Health Network at http://www.indianaholistichealth.net. You will find info by checking through the directory and the CRANE Newsletter.

On another note check out my - Quilter's Comfort Tea - a blend of certified organic, certified kosher herbs that brew a tasty nutritious tea is now available in these Bloomington locations - Bloomingfoods Downtown and East, Shissa Quilts, Wandering Turtle Gallery and the Visitors Center were the tea is available for sale and use in their Indiana Gift Baskets! http://www.quilterscomfort.com

I have been involved with organic, sustainable, heirloom, local food, seed saving, edible landscaping, etc for more than 30 years. Am doing germination test on some old seeds, to see if I need to get out a new seed order.
