We built our own rain barrels this weekend. We connected 3 together. It cost us $42, the barrels were free.

Stopped by a Farmers Market Yesterday evening on 54th St. near Broad Ripple, Awesome choices, very good quality. They even have lunch and dinner options. Think it was pulled pork or grilled salmon along with some fresh veggies of course, cooked right there while you shop. Check it out!

Living Simply Well, Community Building, and Eating Local and Eating Healing Meals” is our focus for the 2009 "Simply Healthy: Creating Sustainable Communities" Simply Living Fair and Wellness Expo, November 13-15th. Diana Leafe Christian, Editor of Communities Magazine and author, will help us take a closer look at community building by showing "Ecovillages: Where They Are, What They're Doing, Why They're Important". With over 400 photos, she will show why ecovillagers are devoted to developing these ecological settlements, how ecovillages are beneficially influencing the wider culture, and how ecovillages will most likely affect patterns of human settlement in the near future.

Middle Way Food Works will organize the 2nd annual Local Foods Dinner Feast.

City Market got a little wet today but I stopped by and scored some awesome asparagus. I make a wicked simple penne asparagus dish that my wife even feel in love with. Funny thing she stopped by the G-store and bought some too and it looked so bad compared to the local, fresh picked A that I scored DT. Go slow support local.

If you live around the Bloomington area, you will find the Local Food Bloomington website at http://www.greendove.net/localfood.htm. There is a randomly updated blog (www.localfoodbloomington.blogspot.com) The Farmers Market page also list many CSA's (Community Supported Agriculture) farms and gardens and links to Farmers Markets and CSA's across Indiana in the Indiana Holistic Health Network directory listings at http://www.indianaholistichealth.net/farmersmarkets.htm. If you know of markets and CSA's that need listing, have them submit their link info!
