Matt McKillip Comment by Matt McKillip on September 21, 2009 at 12:19pm
A consortium of health and information technology industry and university groups are partnering to present a four seminar series on Health Information Technology. The Indiana Health Informatics Corporation (IHIC), Indiana Health Industry Forum (IHIF) and the Indiana University Research and Technology Corporation (IURTC) are presenting the series along with supporting partners BioCrossroads and Techpoint. The Purdue University College of Technology and Regenstrief Center for Healthcare Engineering are partnering to make these important sessions available in the greater West Lafayette area.

“The seminars will be available by video-conference to locations across the state and each one will be broadcasted from one of Indiana’s main Health Information Exchange locations,” says Kent Barth, chairman of the board, IHIC. Conference dates will be September 28, October 13, October 30, and November 10.

The conference series has three objectives: to provide current information on Indiana’s pursuit of stimulus funding for building Health IT infrastructure, to provide information on the industry to those interested in working in the sector, and to demonstrate the broad and varied Health Information Exchange networks already in place in Indiana.

“Ideal participants would include those working in the IT sector in hospitals or physician practices, those working to develop electronic medical record (EMR) and personal health record (PHR) software or systems, as well as those interested in learning more about working in the sector,” says Kristin Jones, interim president, Indiana Health Industry Forum.

All seminars run from 8:30 – 10:30 am Eastern time. The first seminar in West Lafayette is on September 28th and will be held in the Knoy Hall of Technology, room 202. Knoy Hall is at the corner of Grant Street and Northwestern Avenue. Parking is available in the Grant Street garage at the north east corner of US26 (State St) & Grant Street which is right across from the Purdue Memorial Union and just a short walk south of Knoy Hall. A campus map is available at http://www.purdue.edu/campus_map/. The cost to attend one session is $25 or $90 to attend all four seminars and paying participants must register in advance at www.ihif.org. Purdue University faculty, staff, and students entering with valid Purdue IDs can attend free of charge.

Hello Smaller Indiana Members. I have a client that purchased the wrong version of Small Business Server 2008 Retail from NewEgg.com and since we opened the shrink-wrap on the package, they will not allow us to return it. Currently, the price on NewEgg.com is $899 but we are willing to take a bit of a hit and sell it for $830, no tax and no shipping. Here is the link for SBS 2008 on NewEgg.com - http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16832116654&Tpk=32-116-654

Hi, all. I just joined Smaller Indiana this morning but thought this IT group might be an appropriate one to belong to because, while I'm no IT professional, I edit IT books every day for various Indy publishers. If anyone needs freelance editing help in this area or any others, I'm your girl! My specialty is not in the techie area--that's yours. Mine is language. Glad to be part of this group!

Hi,
Great to be a new member of your group. Does anyone have information about up coming events such as the one Matt McKillip mentioned from a couple of months ago?

Indy IT Professionals is dynamic organization comprised of systems, network, telecom, website, and marketing professionals. We are growing yet again.

Indy IT Professionals is looking for an expert in XML for a specific project.

This position must be willing to work with a Project Manager and team of developers to automate the process of receiving files in a delimited format, automate conversion to XML format, and submit to another company via Secure HTTP.

This position is ideal for someone who:

1) is working a part time job
2) is currently seeking employment and would like to pick up some hours of work
3) is currently an independent consultant or contractor

We are not looking for a freelancer who is only available after regular business hours. We can be flexible, but you must be too. We are looking for someone who could work various times with consideration that some work may go into the evening and/or weekend. Remote support is also very likely.

Candidates must possess excellent communication skills and the ability to work closely with business owners and/or managers. Effective communication is key. The ability to document is critical.

More information about the company can be found by visiting: www.indyitprofessionals.com

For consideration, please submit your resume in a word or pdf format to info@indyitprofessionals.com

Toby Reeves Comment by Toby Reeves on June 11, 2009 at 3:09pm
Hello, I am new to the group and wanted to introduce myself as well. My name is Toby Reeves, and I am President of Rescott, LLC Marketing & Technology, a small technology innovator in Carmel.

Over the years, we've blended our expertise in I.T. network support with internet solutions. We still provide computer I.T. support to small to medium sized businesses. My main love is developing and implementing brand new solutions to the market.

One such solution I just completed is DoConference.com, a new web based video conferencing platform. It's is expecially ideal for trainers and consultants who conduct webinars online. We are offering a 14 day free trial of DoConference.com to those who are interested.

Tom, I see you have FishersFind.com. Last month, I just assumed ownership of FishersWorship.com. I'll be totally revamping the site soon. Perhaps we can collaborate!

I look forward to meeting all of you in future events and online. If I can assist in any way with any of our I.T. and Marketing solutions, I would appreciate the opportunity.
