Christy,
If you are applying for an SFDC License for non-profits, you will have to start by completing this form: http://www.salesforcefoundation.org/NPOPackagesTrial

This form will allow SFDC to approve your organization for a 30-Day Trial while your non-profit status application is pending. Be sure to have current documentation of your 501(c)3 status, as this will speed up the approval process on their side.

Looking into Salesforce.com for non-profits. Any tips?

OK, here’s a question; you have a great new idea, everyone loves it but no one is buying it. What’s the problem? Is it your message, is it your website? What are some of your tips on effectively selling your brand that ends in a sale? Share your thoughts… - Jerome http://nohome.org Humanitarian Web Hosting

Yes, we're using the Salesforce for nonprofit edition. I don't recall it taking long at all to get the license...BUT, we do have a Salesforce employee on the Board so that might have sped things along.

Kenan,

Are you using the Salesforce Nonprofit Edition? How long did it take you to go through the process and get the Nonprofit Edition license...?

Thanks,
Amol.

Hi all. My name is Kenan. I'm an Intellectual Property and Business law attorney by day, but I use Salesforce in connection with my nonprofit work with the California Dictionary Project (and soon the Indiana Dictionary Project). We use Salesforce to track donors and grants, coordinate dictionary deliveries with school districts and as a central repository for our documents. I'm sure we could be doing much more with Salesforce, so I hope to get some great ideas from this group.

I am currently in a career search and signed up for the 30 day demo period. My two main purposes for this are that many employers I am targeting use Salesforce.com for their CRM and I need to have some credentials and familiarity with its use and secondly may start my own business venture and would most likely use this as my CRM. Learning curve seems to be a little steep but, taking the online training modules and using the live training sessions should help.
