Smaller Indiana + Indy Fringe

Smaller Indiana is proud to be a sponsor of IndyFringe Theatre Festival. Just like last year, we will have tickets available for Smoosiers who want to go to the shows and blog about their experiences.

If you are interested in getting involved, please join this group and we'll keep you informed of the many ways you can help. Here are a few of the highlights which we'll be promoting:

Aug 7 - Visual Fringe Opening and August First Friday on Mass Ave
Aug 13 - Longest Dinner (Fundraiser for Fringe, Cultural Trail and Slow Food)
Aug 20 - Opening Night Parade & Party, featuring 3 minute previews and the Playboy Psychonauts
Aug 21-30 - Shows! 53 different productions in six venues

Smaller IN will have a Night on the Fringe prize package to give away. It will include tickets, dinner on Mass Ave and an overnight stay at the Nestle In B & B.

We need bloggers - we've got 2 free tickets to each of over 50 Fringe Shows, and we need Smoosiers to use the tickets...and return to SI to blog about their Fringe experiences. If you're interested in blogging, or helping to recruit bloggers, please contact Erick Deckers.

Even if you don't get free tickets, please, go to the Fringe and return to SI and share your experiences. Blog about it. Post photos or videos. We want to hear and see your stories!

Smoosier Manunya Nookong will be helping out as communications intern on the Fringe and other SI projects this summer. If you have questions and you can't reach Pat, or Erik, you can reach out to Manunya. Festival questions can also be directed to IndyFringe intern (and Smoosier) Christina Lear

NUVO-Andrea Merlyn's Greatest Hits (and missus!) is a 'one of a kind show.'

Come see the magic.

Hello! Erin, director of Crossing the Bridge, here.
We are in full swing at the IndyFringe and here is the buzz!

Indianapolis Star
One of "Five not to miss"
"The pacing of this simply patterned piece is exemplary..."

NUVO
4 stars
"Crossing the Bridge represents the kind of well-executed movement-infused theater we could use more of..." "tender, beautiful, painful, ridiculous, joyous..."

IndyTheatreHabit.com
"The fusion of theatre and dance, of dialogue and mime, of humor and poignancy, of life and death, in this show made me weep...it also left me feeling uplifted and blessed."
"...refreshingly free of clichéd material..."

IndianaAuditions.com
"We saw 11 shows in 2 days and of all 11 this was my favorite."
"one of the most powerful, emotion evoking performance I have experienced in a long time."
"a very polished performance and mesmerizing to watch...This is truly one not to be missed" - SheilaB
"Crossing the Bridge--at the top of my list. Moving, powerful, innovative, clever." - AmyP

Did just one show and Bazbeaux last night. Finally got down to see one at Earth House. My review of Crossing the Bridge is posted.

Do you like medieval times? Have deep thoughts on the war in Iraq? Well then see the Rise of General Arthur and combine the two. See what was said about the show at another Fringe. This show has received little buzz at IndyFringe so far, but may just be a gem waiting to be discovered.

Must admit I was disappointed by the reviews in NUVO-- I have heard more positive feedback on plenty of the shows that only got a few stars in NUVO--
I think Fringers are getting a more balanced set of reviews from SI-- and Bob's pictures are terrific.
Taylor Martin Comment by Taylor Martin on August 27, 2009 at 11:05am
wow, nearly sold out last night. Thank you SI for getting the word out about Andrea Merlyn's Greatest Hits (and missus!) Such a festival.
