Smaller Indiana + Indy Fringe

Smaller Indiana is proud to be a sponsor of IndyFringe Theatre Festival. Just like last year, we will have tickets available for Smoosiers who want to go to the shows and blog about their experiences.

If you are interested in getting involved, please join this group and we'll keep you informed of the many ways you can help. Here are a few of the highlights which we'll be promoting:

Aug 7 - Visual Fringe Opening and August First Friday on Mass Ave
Aug 13 - Longest Dinner (Fundraiser for Fringe, Cultural Trail and Slow Food)
Aug 20 - Opening Night Parade & Party, featuring 3 minute previews and the Playboy Psychonauts
Aug 21-30 - Shows! 53 different productions in six venues

Smaller IN will have a Night on the Fringe prize package to give away. It will include tickets, dinner on Mass Ave and an overnight stay at the Nestle In B & B.

We need bloggers - we've got 2 free tickets to each of over 50 Fringe Shows, and we need Smoosiers to use the tickets...and return to SI to blog about their Fringe experiences. If you're interested in blogging, or helping to recruit bloggers, please contact Erick Deckers.

Even if you don't get free tickets, please, go to the Fringe and return to SI and share your experiences. Blog about it. Post photos or videos. We want to hear and see your stories!

Smoosier Manunya Nookong will be helping out as communications intern on the Fringe and other SI projects this summer. If you have questions and you can't reach Pat, or Erik, you can reach out to Manunya. Festival questions can also be directed to IndyFringe intern (and Smoosier) Christina Lear

Just posted my impressions of "Thurgoode," a flawed but fascinating production. It took quite a while to parse through my thoughts about the show. I'd love to get impressions from others.

I got to see Waiting with M'Godot. Elegant setting, excellent PROFESSIONAL LOOKING costumes ( I want that gown in my size ), clever and witty. We don't get enough 'wit' and too much in your face . The goblets on the table were what you would find in a fine restaurant. And the waiter's comments on magic hit home with me. The finest acted show I've yet seen.

The Stetson Manifesto was interesting. I don't know what was missing for me? Maybe it's I have never had to face a situation like that. It has an audience and that's great.

We chatted up the magic show to people eating outside the restaurants on Mass. Ave. Then to The Old Pointe Tavern for nachos and Pepsi.

Go see New Vaudeville and 'murder, hope'. I liked both. And see Attack of the Big Angry Booty on Friday, 9 PM @ Comedy Sportz. It's a tradition that we all go see the worst reviewed show from NUVO. Les deserves all of our support.

I'm caught up, too. Here is a link to my thoughts on the following six Fringe shows:

(Tuesday)

The Cask of Amontillado
humanature
The Tragical Ballad of Black Bonnet

(Wednesday)

murder, hope
Sex, Dreams, and Self-Control - Part Two
Welcome to Blanksville: An Improvised Tribute to Choose Your Own Adventure

That brings me up to 21 shows seen and blogged about. And there is still this weekend yet to come! Yay!

I worked at my "day" job tonight, so I couldn't see any Fringe shows. SO I'm reading as many of other people's reviews as I can until I fall asleep. I love both writing and reading about shows.

Thank you, everyone who has taken the time to write!

The reviews of the shows I saw on Thursday are here.

This catches me up on all of the shows I've seen thus far. Also, let it be noted that this post also includes my first negative review of a show in this year's Fringe.

Enjoy!

I can't believe we're down to just 2 more shows. They have been going so well. And the shows I've seen are all great and deserve the audiences they are getting.

New Vaudeville is wonderful. I've worked with 80% of the cast before. Elliot Feltman is doing his best work. It feels like a bur lee cue should feel. It's fabulous just for Joey's guitar styling, and there is so much more. A real 10 in one feel.

Here at Indy Fringe we have a tradition. All the performers go to the worst reviewed show in the Fringe, because it's usually better than the reviewer sees. I encourage all to go see The Attack of the Big Angry Booty. Les got only one star. His show is Friday at 9 PM at Phoenix Theatre's Basile Theatre. I'm going to pay for my ticket. He needs our support.

Wanda and Rhonda's Bitchin' Bingo Bash was great. Some didn't like it, but I know these people they are satirizing. And the vehicle of using a Bingo game to regulate the length of the show is great.

Mr. Charles, Currently of South Beach is worth seeing just to watch Ron Spencer act. He's the director of TOTS and doesn't get to play that often. It's a well hung show. Full nudity.

"murder, hope" is a tour de force. Becky Poole's show is not something I'd like to see everyday, but it's so passionate about it's subject.

"The Hefner Monologues" is another one person show. His ability to tell a story is great and he really moves the show along with quick costume changes. Quite an actor.

Everything's rockin' at INdy Fringe. Ticket sales are up. Just shows the economy is ready to be spent on fun and art, again.

Andrea Merlyn's next show is Sat. @ 7:30 at TOTS. See you there.

If you haven't gotten a chance to see "Medea" by Michael Burke @ Butler yet, another performance has been added at 10:30 pm on Sunday at the IndyFringe Building!

Audience members have repeatedly told us that this FringeNext show is one of the best in the entire festival, and these are students, so they definitely deserve your support!
