Hi, I am a proud veteran and my heart is puking over the latest developments at Ft.Hood...I am uncertain how to react to the latest terrorist act.

Hi! Not a veteran, but the proud wife of USAF vet, TSgt Wm Kemp Jr. Happy to have "served" beside him all the military years. And thankful for the small, but adequate commissary in Lawrence--Harrison Village.

Aging affects different people in different ways. But the aging veteran may have unique issues. We'll explore some of those at the Indiana Collaborative Conference on Aging. Click here for more information.

As we get ready to celebrate our country's Independence Day, it's important to remember how we got that independence, and thank those who've helped keep us free.

I volunteer for a local not-for-profit called Veterans of Valor. It was started in 2007, by a Marine who was shot in the face, at point-blank range, in Falujah, Iraq while protecting our freedom. After his recovery, he started the organization with the sole purpose of helping veterans and their families recover from both physical injuries and mental distress, such as post traumatic stress syndrome.

Wednesday, July 29, they will be holding their 2nd Annual Golf Outing at Hickory Stick Golf Club, to raise money to support the program. This is one of their biggest fund raising events of the year. 97 cents out of every dollar goes straight to the program to help veterans, and we need 150 golfers to hit our fund raising goal! As a 501 C 3 organization, any donation is 100% tax deductible.

As a friend and fellow golfer, I thought you may be interested in putting together a foursome to play in this outing, and help a GREAT cause! Attached is a flyer that has more details. There will be prizes for 1st and 2nd place, as well as putting and driving contests, and even a $25,000 hole in one competition! There are also sponsorship opportunities available, if you or someone you know would be interested in helping more.

Hey, Fellow Veterans - We are having a TEA (Taxed Enough Already) Party at White River State Park on Sat the 4th of July and I want to invite all of you to join us. It will be open all afternoon, but the entertainment starts around 5PM and will end with the fireworks over the river at dark. Please join if you can. We need to send a message to Washington that we aren't going to stand by and do nothing while they give away trillions of dollars for our grandchildren to pay back.

I kind of new to Smaller Indiana, and I am not a veteran, but thanks to all of you that have made freedom possible in the United States! A few years ago, we started a program for Veterans and active service personnel; every Monday we have free greens fees at our Club Run Golf Course in Marion. There is no purchase required. We helped spearhead a 4000# shipment of golf supplies to Baghdad so the forward bases could have driving ranges. The thanks have really been overwhelming. So, the free greens fee program is a kind of pay it forward for our Service men and women. A sincere thanks for all of you that have given everything for our freedom! If you have questions or want to play free golf please see our website, www.walnutcreekgolf.com for details and times. Randy

Let's all remember on Memorial Day those that have given the ultimate sacrifice. I would be interested to know what you are doing on Memorial Day?

I am a combat Veteran (& a DAV) having served in the Army / Army Res. /Army National Guard of Indiana for almost 18 years now. Among many experiences I've had in the military, I have trained troops as a Drill Sergeant; I've jumped out of many a perfectly good military aircraft while in flight and served quite a few years as a sneaky guy in a LRS-D (A) unit to name just a few of my experiences that I've had and I've loved every bit of...

To everyone here that has toed the line and served our nation, choosing to serve something greater than ones self, you have my deepest respect and admiration.
