Thank you for the Tweetup heads-up, Chris! I can't go to the July one since I have to go to the E-ville area to visit family and such. But I will note my calendar for August. Can't wait to meet up with some fellow Indy Twits. (And thanks to the ones who have newly followed me this past couple of days.)

HI everybody.....

I would love to invite all the tweeters to a special event down at the SUDS Downtown Greenwood on Friday July 31st from 5pm - 9pm. It's a fundraiser for the Colors of Cancer / Relay For Life and Oldies 101.9 will be there broadcasting live. We also have bouncers, a slide, dunk tank, cash cube, and a jail. It's all for charity which should be fun for all.....

Re the weird/scam followers, I eventually made my profile private because I got tired of people trying to promote their products. I mean, I could tweet about something really random like swiss cheese (example) and suddenly Swiss Cheese Cultivators of America would be following me! It's kinda creepy.

Beth - I hadn't gotten too deep into the "follows" so I spend last night going through all those followers and blocked a whole bunch. I actually decide to follow a few who seemed to have more to offer than just some product they are pushing. This afternoon I set up an email folder to automatically filter Twitter. Now they will be out of the way and I'll get to them when I can.

My tweeter "handle" is bethg40. I've had a lot of marketers and such try to follow me, but it's been easy enough to block them. It's just that I seem to do it almost every day!

Patrick - Thank you for clarifying and more important what you do with follow requests. Some "experts" say to let everyone follow you and to reciprocate with all. That becomes no more than a numbers game. For the spammers, as you said, it's just like email - hope that 2-3% will bite and buy "whatever"!
