Joined Twitter today, and upgraded my Verizon account to include unlimited texts... just in case :-)

As an early proponent of multimedia technology (early 80's), I'm intrigued with emerging technologies and their application to marketing. My 15 year old son asked a great question and I need your collected brilliance on this...

"Why Twitter, if I can just IM?" I explained the Web 2.0 aspect... but how do you answer this question?
