Some don't' like the fact that the bar is out in the open, but it's a small detail.

Yum-o! El Jaripeo is delicious and the staff is friendly. Another favorite would be El Puerto on Southport Road.

El Jaripeo is one of my all time faves!!! It's been a while since I have eaten there....but it was a cheap mexican staple in my life for many years!!! Can't wait to see the new diggs!!!

And, at last, on East Washington just east of Washington Square, El Jaripeo has finally gotten into it's new building. The are in the old Buddy's Carpet and have created one of the finest decors I've ever seen. Plus, the food is still just as good. Be ready for a wait, as they were out the door when we went on Friday night. From a one room restaurant to a major one in 15 years is amazing. The waterfall, the Mayan Pyramid, and the custom built bar (a bit to big for the short but hard working bar tender Oscar" are just amazing.

Fiesta Mexicano would be great for me in terms of locale. Will look forward to hopefully seeing a HITW lunch scheduled there!

It's been Mexican week for me and Wendy. We went to Los Rancheros on Pendleton Pike just west of I-465, and were very impressed with the food and value there. Then today we did Fiesta Mexicano on West 38th Street, in a former chain Texas or Longhorn steakhouse. Due to the minor shift in theme, redecoration was easy for them. The food was good Tex-Mex fare. We noticed on another person's order that they seem to do chili rellenos correctly (not the eggy-cheese-mess of most places). And a pleasant surprise was that the flan had pecan pieces in the bottom (guess that should be a warning for those with nut allergies, but it was a bonus for us). They've got plenty of room for a HITW lunch, and as we were there with only a few other tables occupied during 1 o'clock hour Friday they could use the business.

John & I ate at a great little place on the west side today. We've got to work it into the monthly rotation at some point. It was called Fiesta Mexicano and it's on 38th street in the old Texas Roadhouse location. The food was amazing. The prices were incredible and I honestly can't wait to go back there.

Hey David, good to see you in here! Hopefully I'll see you at the next group lunch.

Fieri's great. We got to see his road show in Dec. at the Horseshoe Casino in Elizabeth, IN. I ended up onstage during a singing contest and he treated me really well. Glad you're in the group, David.
