Making people and ideas findable

This just hit me! Nicki Laycoax is on to something that could be fantastic.

How many people watch the local and national news? What percentage of the stories are bad news?Yesterday, my sister, Jill Harding, mentioned that she has been exploring a "good news channel". She suggested this to Tony Scelzo (of Rainmakers), and he suggested she contact a few fellow Rainmakers with contacts at local news channels. While catching up on blogs, I saw numerous posts about companies cutting jobs or shutting down--more bad news.

So now onto why Nicki is a genius. She started this Exciting News group, which is exactly a "good news channel". How do we get something like this in the mainstream? Perhaps Tony could help by producing a weekly good news report on The Buzz? What do you think?

Perception is reality. The current perception is that things are bad. Let's change this.

Thank you so much, Jon. What a shock to read this title!

It is slightly depressing to hear about all the bad things going on today... I started this group because I know that even through all the bad we experience, we also have things to be thankful for. I keep a positive attitude about 95% of the time even when I have bad days or unexpected occurrences that may set me back. (I'm up working through the stomach flu.. even that's not holding me down. :) )

I'm connected to the Indy tv stations on Twitter. I could share this idea with them. Could be fun!

I think you're on to something, Jon. I am a Realtor. You know the bad news I've had to deal with! Wow, we have 7.2% unemployment!
Yes, and we have 92.8% employment!!!!!!! I had a discussion this evening with a young man and his new wife about buying a home.
Oh, they so want a home, but they must exercise a little patience; follow their plan. They were doing some hand wringing - "Obama can't keep all his promises. What is he going to do?"

He's going to do everything in his power to move our economy forward and upward. And we're going to help him/us, instead of hiding in a corner wimpering. We should remember to help one another. We should get on with our lives.

I've sold 3 homes in the last 30 days and I have half a dozen other buyers. Attitude means a lot. My business is about disclosure
and transparency. Let's keep the national town hall meeting going. Don't let the naysayers keep control of all the news. Speak
good words, good news to one another. Spread some joy around. There's plenty of it in the real world.

I could go on and on. Thanks, Nicki.

Wow, it is like Nicki read my mind. Nicki - I fully agree as people are as happy as they make their mind up to be and it does not help all of the news negativity on in the morning, afternoon and evening. I truly believe people in general might be much happier if instead of starting their days or ending their days with negative news - began and ended in a positive manner - they might just become more pleasant and much happier. Is this too much to ask? I really do not think so with all the resources we have... i.e. Tony Scelzo, founder of Rainmakers (tony@gorainmakers.com) mentioned a couple of Rainmakers who have great relationships specifically with Fox 59: Amy Woodall amy@imagesavvyindy.com (fellow Rainmaker - owner of Image Savvy, plus ties with Fox 59), Patric Welch pwelch@noobieinc.com (fellow Rainmaker - owner of Noobie Inc., plus ties with Fox 59) & Lorraine Ball lorraine@roundpeg.biz (fellow Rainmaker & RM VP - owner of RoundPeg, plus an all round awesome people connector). I say let's roll - as Jon mentioned maybe starting virtually by asking Tony about the Buzz Show. Check this out as an example http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=3qDDBzyO7ZA

Of course we could gear the Buzz Show around "Good News" stories and business' success stories!

I think using the viral nature of "You Tube"-esque videos is a good way to start.

So the good news thing is starting to grow legs. Jill Harding will be working with Pinpoint AV on reporting good news stories. If you have ideas, let her know.
