Making people and ideas findable

When was the last time you took the time to genuinely thank someone for the difference they are making in your life? I have found that, as a society, we are so quick to criticize, blame, and judge others for "our idea" of their wrong doings, but simply assume they know that we appreciate them - even though the words are not shared. I don't know about you, but I believe it would make another's day to receive meaningful, positive feedback. I am working on my list of people now and encourage you to do so, too. Let's bring a little joy to someone's day. In gratitude~

I think it would be a great idea to give some a gratitude card. Deliver it in person and tell them how they encourage you.
Then they will also have the card to keep, to give them encouragement in the future.

I agree; great idea! When genuinely expressed, the simple words, "Thank you - you are appreciated," mean so much. The card would be great to pull as a reminder out on a day filled with the blues.

This holiday season has been a very different one for me. I am more appreciative of so much more than I ever have been before. Especially family. Not just my kids though. My Step-Dad, who I've had in my life for 25 years, has been sick with ulcerative colitis for years. Just a couple of months ago, his doctor was weaning him off of all of his meds.. It was sooo exciting! Then, this weekend, he told us that it's getting bad again. It was emotional, to say the least. It took that news for me to really appreciate all that he has done for my Mom, sister, and myself growing up. He was not the most affectionate or warm man as we were growing up and I never really bonded with him, but the thought of not having him in my life made me realize how amazing of a man he is and has been.

I wouldn't be the person I am today if it weren't for him... I have attached the song that makes me think about him... So sappy.. :)

Lisa - Amen! Why is this so - quick to blame and judge, slow to compliment? Booker T. Washington once said, "You can't hold a man down without staying down with him". If only more would understand that notion. When you judge someone you put yourself down. When you blame others, you contribute to the problem. Stop playing victim and take responsibilty your life. The joy you gain is worth it!

I'm grateful for you, Lisa, and I'm glad I discovered this discussion. You've inspired me to be a contribution today.

I am grateful for Nicki Laycoax. I sent an email out to my Smaller Indiana friends earlier today requesting connections to organizations in need of speakers. Within minutes, Nicki had me booked to speak. Nicki, thank you for your immediate response. I appreciate you.
