Making people and ideas findable

Envision College Avenue

College Avenue is a high profile Corridor in and of itself, and a key artery of overlapping issues and opportunity for CAN DO! (College Avenue Neighborhood Development Organization) and the Meridian-Kessler Neighborhood - OUR Neighborhood – and well beyond – that needs proactive, thoughtful smart growth and redevelopment… “ENVISIONING”! We want the City and Community to come together to reverse blight and urban flight, to draw economic development, correct brown fields, reduce crime, address vacant/abandoned housing, increase safe affordable living options and supportive retail, create walkable, bikeable, busable and enjoyable destinations.

CAN DO! is pleased to announce that Harmoni and the Department of Metropolitan Development have agreed to assist us with the visioning process for College Avenue. Together they have done an outstanding job with the visioning process for BRVA. We are excited to be joining forces with them as we envision College Avenue.

The inaugural ENVISIONING session, sponsored by CAN DO! and the Meridian Kessler Neighborhood Association, facilitated by Kathy Shorter of HARMONI kicks off August 19, 2009 at the Bethlehem Lutheran Church, 526 E. 52nd Street, from 5:30-8:00pm. Bob Wilch and Kathleen Blackham from the Department of Metropolitan Development will also be there to help launch the College Avenue Visioning Process. Your perspectives, thoughts, and knowledge are the ingredients that will drive this forward – we want to turn that interest into excitement! Please plan to attend – RSVP to the MKNA office 317-283-1021 – Dinner will be served
