Blogmob F2F Monday April 14th Monument Circle 12 Noon to 1 pm Please mark April 14th on your calendar. That's the day that Smaller Indiana is going to announce our presence in the tech universe. In an effort to improve Indiana's image as a technology center and to promote our unConference on April 26th, we are calling upon all Indianapolis-area Smoosiers to join us for a "be-in", reminiscent of the 60's. (They say that if you remember the 60's, you weren't really there.)

Anyway, we are hoping to create a visual happening, to demonstrate the power of the internet to put feet on the ground. In order for the visual to work, we ask that people wear either a blue or yellow shirt and, if possible, bring your laptop and an umbrella with you. We will film and stream the event in real time. Assuming we gather at least 50 Smoosiers, the usual lunchtime crowd of people will realize that something is up on on the Circle. That something will be us. If we get a few hundred we will make the evening news.

We have no agenda for our time on the Circle. We want a lot of people arriving at noon and departing by 1 pm. The Circle has WiFi, so folks wishing to post in real time are free to do so. You can even e-mail Aunt Margaret (finally!) and thank her for your Christmas gift. We don't want to interfere with cars, but we do want to interact with the lunch crowd. The only message is that the blogworld is full of interesting stuff, and we Hoosiers are an active part of the discussion. Oh, and we would love to have you join us at our unConference on the 26th.

We hope our Smoosier friends in Bloomington, West Lafayette, Ft. Wayne, South Bend and So Forth can arrange local blogINs in their communities, and that they end up as cool as ours is going to be. Stay tuned for video from the Circle City BlogMob.

Let's review.

Monday, April 14th noon to 1 pm on Monument Circle. Wear a blue or yellow shirt. Bring your laptop and umbrella. Be in a good mood. Eat lunch. Work on your tan. Have fun. See you at the UnConference on the 26th!

Fox 59 plugged the Mob this morning... so I think they might have a camera crew on the the site. If you aren't blogging, bring cameras, i could use images for post event media.

Sorry I can't be there in person. It's annoying when my job interferes with things I'd like to do! I hope you'll have a lot of participation and I'll look for you all on the news. I'd be happy to help spread the word. I know people who might be interested but there isn't a lot of information out there on the registration site. Is there someplace people can find an agenda or more details about what's going to happen at the (un)conference?

An unconference is hard to explain, with little or no formal. agenda, people come together around a central theme. We will have sujbect matter experts on hand to facilitate discussions.

Doug Karr, Sarah Robbins I hope, Scott Ables, and a host of other legendary local bloggers. .

and a bunch of curious amatures as well.

No worries about not making it to this event, we are planning an after hours soon!
