Making people and ideas findable

I've always been an Apple fan and was thinking about purchasing the new iphone G3? Any thoughts? The internet access is very important for my business, I need to be able to access software, run comparisons, and email this info to clients. You think this is the phone for me?

Thanks,
Scott

Scott,
I got an iphone 3g about a month ago, and I LOVE it! I've had a few problems with battery life, and its locked up on me a couple of times. Other than that, it's been a fantastic experience.

Before you purchase, I would make sure that there are Apps that will run the comparisons that you are looking for. If you haven't already, you can check that out by going to iTunes and browsing the App store.

Hope that helps,
milo

No problem. I'd love to know which direction you go in with this decision! Thanks, milo

You know I'm going to probably go with the iphone. It's been put on the back burner for a little bit because I'm adding some new features to my website. I honestly work 24/7 now and I'm fighting it a bit...that only quite time I get is when I'm away from my home office and with the iphone I'm sure I'll become even more of a work freak!

Yeah, the whole "teathered thing" is nice to a degree, but it does make you "always present." What's your website?

I'm a bit of a dot.commer www.indianainsurancegroup.com. I help people with their healthcare, help is the keyword. Back in the day I was a State VP and found that many in the industry were overselling product; which I always thought was immoral. My goal is to help people find plans that are affordable while also providing the coverage they need. In addition, I help quite a few people get on to State plans such as Medicaid, Healthwise for Hoosiers, HIP plan, or the Indiana High Risk plan if it applies.

Is anyone else bothered by the fact that you can't purchase loss or theft insurance for the iPhone like you can for any other AT&T (or Verizon et al.) phone out there. If you lose your iPhone it could cost you $400-$600 to replace it.

It is interesting that AT&T does not offer insurance on the iphone, however the cost has gone down significantly to $199.

I think it's $200 with a contract. If you want to buy it out right, I think its $400 or something.

Scott,

Just got my 3g this week, but have been admiring them since day one. In terms of internet interaction, I don't think there is any other machine out there that is as functional, short of carrying your laptop with you everywhere. Access to software is limited to what is written for the iphone, but the presence of a growing body of useful utilities is what tipped the scale for me.

The 3g network is surprisingly fast, but still a bit frustrating if you're a speed demon. I'm a three decade Apple guy, and wouldn't likely go with any of the Windows mobile products.

Can you be more specific about what you mean by access to software? If you want to actually run desktop software, I don't think there's a phone out there that fits your requirements. That said, the iPhone 3g is yet another insanely great product from Apple. It is such a sweet device. I splurged and went with the 16 gig model which is another hundred on top of the $199 (with commitment) price.

Regards,

H Nolan

I heard you can purchase the insurance through State Farm only. Not sure if that is true, but I have heard from several people they had obtained insurance through there.
