My antiquing background

My parents became antique dealers when I was in junior high school. At the time, my brothers and I hated being dragged around to antique shows all over the U.S. But, when I got to college, I found out my friends thought my oak rocking chair was cool. I had a degree in journalism and three years after I graduated I answered an ad for an editor at AntiqueWeek newspaper. And the rest, as they say is history. I've been with AntiqueWeek for 24 years now.

Through the years I've collected and sold numerous items, but my current collections are Parke County memorabilia, German Shepherd items and stick horses. The photo on this page is a real photo postcard showing the Parke County Courthouse.

No problem, Steph. I've been slow to use Twitter too- but have found quite a bit of good info on there lately.

OoOoOoh! Thanks Emily! I've been sort of slow to jump on board with Twitter, (I have an account... just rarely use it) but that could be useful info! Heh. :)

Steph- if you follow "antiqueweek" on Twitter, they are tweeting about the US 40 Yard Sale all day long today- what they find along the way, traffic, etc.

If you're into Antiques, a friend of mine just told me about this. I'm planning to go on Saturday for a while... just thought I'd share with other antique lovers! Click on the "US 40 Yard Sale" link on the left.

Deal with the Dealer day will be March 14th from 11 AM to 3 PM at the Carmel Old Town Antique Mall, 38 W. Main St. in Carmel, Ind.

As in the past anyone can bring in up to 3 items for a free appraisal. Coins, stamps, guns and fine art cannot be appraised.

Meet the dealers in their booths. You can wheel and deal with them on items for sale in their booths.

Free snacks and coffee or tea will be provided upstairs for you to enjoy.

With the warmer weather we had yesterday, it made me long for yard sale season. There is just something so great about yard sales.
