Seven Lucky Smoosiers Can Win Tickets to the Senior Open
US Senior Open Coming to Crooked Stick in Carmel July 27 to Aug 2, and Smaller Indiana has tickets to give away! (Special thanks to Smoosier, Angelo Peduto, of Circle City Tickets for making this possible)

Here's how you can win the tickets

We'd like to see these tix used by a wide variety of Smoosiers. If you're interested in winning the tix, please post a reply to this thread and let us know how you intend to use them. We'll pick seven winners - one winner for each day of the event - for seven completely different reasons... the seven most original, sincere, funny, heart wrenching, practical, surprising, ridiculous posts could win...so tell us why you want to go:

Your reasons can be explained in brief, or at length. You can use visual aids. Whatever.

Examples:
- Will you be bringing a client?
- Will you be having a date with your spouse?
- Bringing your camera to get some great shots of players or scenery?
- Bringing a video camera to get an interview with a player? (keep in mind that cameras are only permitted during Mon - Wed practice rounds.
- Can't afford tickets to anything else these days?
- Just want to wander around on Crooked Stick and talk to the geese?
- Tell us your original reason why you should win the tickets. Maybe we'll pick you.

We'll read all replies posted by Friday, July 17, and award 2 tix to 7 different Smoosiers

Each winner will win a pair of tickets for one of the seven days of golf. And each winner PROMISES TO RETURN TO SMALLER INDIANA TO BLOG ABOUT THEIR EXPERIENCES. This is key. You gotta come back and tell us how it went - and share your photos / videos if you got 'em. That's a prerequisite!!

Schedule for the week
The players play practice rounds from Monday through Wedesday, and the actual tournament runs Thursday through Sunday. Parking is Free. We do have Pete Dye hospitality tent passes. And kids under 17 can enter free. Here's a link to more info

My dad is 67, loves golf and these guys are his heroes. I'd take him so we can spend some time together.

Great idea by the way!

I would like to bring my brother who is an avid golfer and I don't get to spend much time with him.

Great idea!

Heh. I don't actually want to go...golf puts me to sleep...but I'd give the tickets to my dad. He just threw his shoulder out playing golf a couple weeks ago and can't play for several months, which he's depressed about. I bet this would cheer him up. He'd take my uncle with him, another avid golfer.

Can you believe I actually thought I had a chance to win Greg Norman's heart? I was so disappointed to find out that he was in love with Chris Evert. (A little triva . . . Evert and her ex were friends with Greg and his ex many years back?) I found out all this scoop about two years ago when a friend of mine (who flys Greg Norman's Shark helicopter) picked us Chrissy in her back yard, flew her over to a charity golf tournament in Naples where Greg was playing, then flew Chrissy, Greg and Jim Nance back to the East cost of FL after the tournament. This was Chrissy's and Greg's first public debut. Needless to say, my fantasy of hooking up with Greg was over when I heard the news. Although Greg is now married and no longer available, I sure would love to see him from a far! Ialso remember seeing Greg Norman and Fred Couples playing together at the PGA Tournament at Crooked Stick back with Daly won it. I was right there, just a few feet away from them as they teed off on the 14th tee. (By the way, Greg has the absolutely cutest buns!!!)

My managing principal (aka "boss") is a huge golf fan. He's done so much for me in mentoring me and helping me get my practice off the ground. Not many 27yr old guys can say that their best friend is also their boss who's married and in thei mid-forties! He's been great to me: helping me out with client events, providing direction, motivation, and support…basically anything that I've ever asked of him. This would be a great way for me to say thanks to him!

Alright, I know there probably is not much that I can say in order to get myself noticed out of all the wonderful people who may be interested. The sad part is that I am only requesting these tickets because I know how happy it will make my fiancé. We both recently graduated from our separate colleges in South Bend and Greencastle. We are new to Indianapolis and she was an athlete in college. She ran cross country and devoted much of her time to any kind of athletics but had a special affinity towards golf. Sadly she decided not to play simply because her friends were on the cross country team and it was her better sport. I guess the saddest part is that she loved golf the most. Heck, for the fun of it I took her to Brickyard Crossing for the Indiana open yesterday. She loved it and she loves to play but I would really enjoy taking her to a real tournament. After looking at ticket prices and being new college graduates, they are just too expensive. Here is a snippet of my current balance: (Bear in mind I still have electric to pay) I attached it as well because this picture might not post.

Obviously it is tough for me to find things for us to do together that are cheap or free. In this case it would be more than tough to do something especially something like this that would mean so much to her. Like I had mentioned before, we are newly engaged and will be getting married next year. I know she would love it and it would be something special that we could do together more importantly. Pat, can you make this a special engagement gift for the two of us?

By the way I started writing this as soon as I saw your wrote the post at 10:20.

I'll be honest, I'm a true Smoosier, and that's exactly what I would plan to do Some smoozing like Smooziers do! I was born as a Hoosier and now I'm a Smoosier, I've got high goals and expectations and I would do a little get to know some of the Sr. and show them some great Hoosier Hospitality!!

Ok, Angelo. I appreciate your offer for some Senior Open tickets. I've been to a few professional tournaments, including John Daly's win at Crooked Stick, and I'm looking at taking my 14 yr old daughter to the Tuesday practice round. I've got her playing a lot of golf and on the local high school team. Watching the pros play is a whole different experience than walking the local city course- and this would be just days before the high school golf season officially begins. We might as well stay for Fuzzy's junior exhibition- you never know which part of the day will get their golf juices flowing. I sure wouldnt mind if she snagged a college golf scholarship because of it.

Well I have a 4 1/2 yr old son who is in love with golf, when I get him home at night he immediately grabs his plastic golf clubs and goes out in the yard to hit golf balls. Of course he is not Tiger woods yet but he does have a good swing. So much so that I cut down a set of clubs for him and gave him regulation balls to play with. He also flips around the TV on raining weekend days and once he hits a golf tournament he shouts "Stop there, It's golf"

I have not had the time or opportunity to take him on a real golf course yet and I had entertained the idea of taking him to the Senior Open so he could see what it is really like to watch a golf tournament up close and personal. But due to the recession and economic situations I cannot affor do take him.

This would be a great adventure for him and I'm sure it would lead to some great stories from observing him at his first tournament.

Being an "older golfer" myself (54 years of age), these are my guys. These are the guys I grew up watching (you have to be 50 to play on the Champions Tour). I have tickets. I bought them the first day they went on sale last summer.
I hope deserving "Smoosiers" get these.

By the way, several of these "older golfers" still play on the regular PGA Tour.

This "Older golfer" shot a 78 at the Donald Ross Course at French Lick on Wednesday. That's 7,000 yards of par 70 fun. These guys still hit 300+ yard drives.

Not to tell my whole life story, but I would greatly enjoy the tickets to share with my grandfather.

My father passed away when I was young, so my grandfather pretty much took over the role as my male mentor. He has been there for me through high school, as well as college. We continue to spend a great deal of time together, mostly playing golf (we are actually playing this Sunday). He is 74 years old, and is absolutely obsessed with the game. He plays 6-7 days a week, watches the golf channel religiously and reads nearly every single golf book and magazine. Just recently he had a mild heart attack which scared not only him, but the whole family. I know our days together are getting limited, so to be able to capture yet another great memory with him before he leaves would be a great blessing for both of us.

Thank you for your consideration.
