Seven Lucky Smoosiers Can Win Tickets to the Senior Open
US Senior Open Coming to Crooked Stick in Carmel July 27 to Aug 2, and Smaller Indiana has tickets to give away! (Special thanks to Smoosier, Angelo Peduto, of Circle City Tickets for making this possible)

Here's how you can win the tickets

We'd like to see these tix used by a wide variety of Smoosiers. If you're interested in winning the tix, please post a reply to this thread and let us know how you intend to use them. We'll pick seven winners - one winner for each day of the event - for seven completely different reasons... the seven most original, sincere, funny, heart wrenching, practical, surprising, ridiculous posts could win...so tell us why you want to go:

Your reasons can be explained in brief, or at length. You can use visual aids. Whatever.

Examples:
- Will you be bringing a client?
- Will you be having a date with your spouse?
- Bringing your camera to get some great shots of players or scenery?
- Bringing a video camera to get an interview with a player? (keep in mind that cameras are only permitted during Mon - Wed practice rounds.
- Can't afford tickets to anything else these days?
- Just want to wander around on Crooked Stick and talk to the geese?
- Tell us your original reason why you should win the tickets. Maybe we'll pick you.

We'll read all replies posted by Friday, July 17, and award 2 tix to 7 different Smoosiers

Each winner will win a pair of tickets for one of the seven days of golf. And each winner PROMISES TO RETURN TO SMALLER INDIANA TO BLOG ABOUT THEIR EXPERIENCES. This is key. You gotta come back and tell us how it went - and share your photos / videos if you got 'em. That's a prerequisite!!

Schedule for the week
The players play practice rounds from Monday through Wedesday, and the actual tournament runs Thursday through Sunday. Parking is Free. We do have Pete Dye hospitality tent passes. And kids under 17 can enter free. Here's a link to more info

Twenty 23 years ago I was a caddy for a Pro-Am group at the Greater Hartford Open and Tom Watson was the pro in the group. He was such a gentleman and offered the others in the group tips on each tee and green. He was the epitomy of professionalism in sports. After the round I had an opportunity to be introduced to Greg Norman and he was such a jerk I'd like to see him get clock cleaned by Tom Watson!

This Smoosier would love the opportunity to attend a major pro golf event in Indy for several reasons:

1) These guys are legends and have paved the way for the young guns.
2) I've never attended a professional golf event, except when I worked in catering and that's not a lot of fun.
3) I lost my job in March and although I recently became gainfully employed, greenbacks are scarce for activities outside of paying the bills for awhile.
4) It would be a great way to spend my bday weekend!
5) Forget the old dudes, I want to see Chris Evert!

I personally don't care about golf that much and I can't take time off work to go myself (I have to save my PTO time for next year when I am expecting a baby), but I would give the tickets to my husband who completely deserves to go. He not only works full time, but goes to school full time to earn his MBA and is a full-time Dad to our 1.5 yr. old. With another baby on the way in January he has very little time to enjoy things to himself and deserves to take a day off work to enjoy his favorite sport. He of course would get to choose who he takes with him and since I already established this isn't going to be me.

I think he deserves the tickets because 1. He works really hard and needs a fun break and 2. He has an awesome wife to watch out for him! [I am not above shameless self promotion :)]

I would take my husband so I could bring him face to face with the hard realty that no, if he quit his job to play golf 24/7 he will not get good enough to join the tour. "Those guys are good."

Pat:
I would take our dog Myra. Myra is a 69 year old Beagle with bad hips, a tumor, a heart murmur and high blood pressure. She developed her love for golf while sitting or lying on the floor while my son watched The Greatest Game Ever Played- the story of Francis Quimet as played by Shia LaBoeuf. Imagine how Myra will feel when she is sitting or lying on the 18th green when the Francis Ouimet trophy is presented to the winner.
However, I must caution you that should Myra win the tickets she has some special needs that must be addressed. First, Myra and her sister Emily live their lives consrained by an invisible fence.[ Come to think of it don't all of us] In order for Myra to attend we would neet to have an invisible fence dog restraint installed around the entire perimeter of Crooked Stick. Second, Myra is a shameless beggar who is on a low calorie diet. So, should Myra be chosen to attend, there can be no food on the premises. Except Bil-Jac dry dog food or Milk Bone dog treats.

My wife's father and mother were both golf professionals, and are now deceased. Prior to his passing her father won the Chicago 1940 Amateur and 1946 Illinois Amateur tournaments. My wife remains a passionate fan and continues to follow golf on a regular basis. She would be thrilled to see some of the greats of the game in our own back yard. Pat,

Father and Son @ the Open

My 5 year old is a crazy golf fan. He has loved the sport since he first watched tiger make a long put at 2.5 years old. A man gave him free left hand Jr clubs a month later and he was hooked.

He finally got a new driver 2 weeks ago. His excitement had many levels. His first trip to the range he had to stop 3 times in 30 minutes to wash the dirt from his club.

The clincher at why we would be a great winner of these tickets though is this quote from my son. He told his mother the following a week ago. He said it with great passion and a far away gaze showing his 'old soul':

"Mom, when I'm older like a daddy, I'm going to give my driver to my son"

I am not much of a golfer. Believe me, I've tried...mainly in order to spend time with my husband (and not be left at home as a golf widow). But it's an extremely frustrating sport.

So what would I do with the tickets? I'd ignore my husband's pleas in order to spend time with him and give them to my Dad and my 85 year old Grandpa Ralph. Despite his age, my grandfather still goes to the golf course and plays at least 27 holes 6 days a week.

Does that make me a mean wife?

I would love to give these tickets to my Brother-in-Law. I've never been able to give my Brother-in-Law anything as gifts for Christmas or whatnot. He really never "wants" anything. I don't think he has ever been to an event like this and it would be really neat to do this for him. I definitely don't have the money for this kind of an event to just buy the tickets. Anyway, thanks for this chance!
