DCI has tickets for the semifinals on Fri., Aug. 7, to give away!

Here's how you can win
Please post a reply to this thread and tell us about your favorite musical memory:
*Playing in the grade school orchestra or high school band
*Maybe you marched drum corps
*Do you rock with a band?
Enjoy playing piano?
*Did your mom sing you to sleep?
*NO musical talent required - tell us about an amazing performance you attended. Did you it make you cry tears – of joy or sorrow? Was it a complete blast with your friends?

We’ll pick 3 winners that inspire us, make us laugh, make us cry, make us want to know more!
Your reasons can be explained in brief or at length. You can use visual aids. Whatever works.

We'll read all replies posted by Wednesday, Aug. 5, and award 2 tix to 3 different Smoosiers.

We’d love for each winner to return to Smaller Indiana to blog about their experiences. Yes, you get to come back and tell everyone how it went!

More info about all the World Championship events is available at

The World Championships are the pinnacle of more than 100 live competitions nationwide by some 5,000 young musician-athletes who have competed all summer for the chance to vie for world champion honors in Indy. The corps of up to 150 brass musicians, percussionists and dance performers ages 14 to 22 will dazzle you with spellbinding visual formations and stunning choreography set to musical arrangements of rock, classical, jazz and pop… from Coldplay and Leonard Bernstein to Samuel Barber and Evanesence. It’s really thrilling, world class entertainment. You seriously don’t want to miss it!

Drum Corps International’s World Championships is the newest addition to Indianapolis’ world class scene. It’s part of a new community initiative that’s been building momentum quietly behind the scenes called Music Crossroads. The mission is to advance quality of life by attracting, supporting and collaborating with leading national and international performing arts organizations. Thought Smoosiers, known as a group that cares about building community, culture and commerce, would be interested.
