Smaller Indiana

Making people and ideas findable

I recently joined this social networking site, and I saw nothing but infinite possibilities.

Now, I feel like it is as stuffy, click-y and unorginal as much of Indiana it self.

Share your views and experiences with Smaller Indiana...please.

I have no agenda.

I was just saying SI had begun to bore me.
I probably wouldn't find it boring if I were a middle-aged, upper-middle class, christian, and/or conservative.

That's all.
This thread was spawn of my boredom with SI, that's my evil agenda Michael.

And, I don't have disdain for Indiana.
I currently live and work here.
..SI, maybe a little.

Well, I'm not middle-aged, upper-middle class, Christian, or a conservative...and I don't find it boring.

If you are so unhappy with SI, what are your plans to make it better? How is Matthew Wilson going to liven this place up since it seems to be in such dire need of a makover?

You leaving the site would be a nice start. haha
Case and point.

This is fabulous, Ben. How do you import youtube to play in your comment?

@ Joe: I don't see it as a lash out, though I think Michael might disagree. It sure was inciteful. (Is
that a word?) If Matthew was fishing for SI comments, he certainly got them and met a few people
to link up with in the process. And I got a few laughs over Ben's posts that otherwise I wouldn't
have seen.

What is that mavricky Matthew up to anyway?

@ Marita: since I made you laugh, my job here is done.

p.s. If you want to embed any widget I.e. Youtibe video into a post all you have to do is grab the "embed code" and paste it in the comment box, text box, or any other place to post that accepts html.

if you go to youtube for example, the embed code is found in the upper right hand corner of the page right around the "link to this" url code that is unique to every video.

What exactly did you win if I may ask?

Matthew,

While I do not see Michael "jump down people's throats" he simply asked pointed questions to the title of your topic. I to am interested to read if this thread has served its purpose. What exactly is the purpose of your thread? It seems you are disappointed about something and have decided to lash out at those that do not walk lock step with your thoughts.

By the way.... I .... am certainly NOT stuffy. I am sometimes even EDGY. :) You will soon see why.

I think what Michael is trying to say (if I can speak for him.....) what Robby was trying to say AND what Joe referred to regarding meeting people offline is that Smaller Indiana is full of people...... and the best way to engage people and get to know people is to meet them offline.

My personal experience with Smaller Indiana has almost exclusively happened offline through the different groups (I tend to gravitate to those involving food for some reason). The people on Smaller Indiana are very welcoming offline. If I can reitierate Michael's question - What brought you to Smaller Indiana in the first place?? What were you hoping to find?

I understand your disappointment - I understand your frustration with Indiana - I spend many a year hating this place (I felt a little stuck here) but then something interesting happened....... I found that the more I invested, the more I got back....this is true with anything.

Honestly, I think life is one big clique.....just hear me out.....people can only interact with a certain number of people no matter how social they are....and we gravitate to the same people as we get to know them and get to like them. One could say that the Hole in the Wall group is a clique....but we are a diverse group....that meets regularly....BUT we welcome newbies with open arms.....we welcome those who drop in from time to time.....and we all can't wait to see each other at the next outing. Does that make us bad??? Heck no.... it makes us people.

I wish you all the best with your perusal in SI - the world needs both Pollyannas and Contrarians and everything in between.....
