Responsibilities
  • Develop and maintain dynamic e-commerce applications on the x-cart (http://www.x-cart.com) platform for reliability, security, manageability, scalability, and performance; provide technical expertise in the areas of architecture, design, and implementation
  • Responsible for PHP, HTML, JavaScript, AJAX, XML, and CSS
  • Implementation of new templates and PSDs into front end code
  • Maintain and support an order fulfillment system
  • Provide technical resolutions for e-commerce store issues
  • Work closely with the management team on creation of project plans and estimated timelines
  • Ability to put in a bit of extra time (from anywhere) when crises arise (which is rare). Actual work time will average 40-50 hours per week.

Required Skills
  • 5 + years of experience building high quality, scalable web applications in PHP (installation, configuration, and implementation) and MySQL
  • Expert knowledge of HTML, JavaScript, AJAX, XML, and CSS
  • Experience working with e-commerce shopping carts
  • Comfortable writing complex SQL queries to retrieve and manipulate datasets
  • A strong understanding of modern web practices and usability
  • Ability to write original code, modify existing code, debug problems and integrate the work of other programmers
  • Basic Linux command line familiarity
  • Experience with web design tools such as Photoshop, Dreamweaver or equivalents
  • Excellent communication skills, both written & verbal
  • Can work independently with little direct supervision
  • Detail oriented and ability to handle multiple projects at the same time
  • Strong troubleshooting skills
  • Must be a team player and open to change
  • Experience with the x-cart platform is a big plus
  • Experience with MooTools or jQuery is a plus
  • LAMP Server administration experience is a plus
  • Basic SEO knowledge and familiarity with social networks is a plus
  • BS degree in Computer Science or related discipline is preferred, but not required
