I need advice and information on taking Credit Card Payments

Smaller Indiana,

I am looking into taking credit card payments for a service business I am starting. Does anyone have any info and/or advice on how to do this? I will need to set it up to where it will automatically charge the customers card for the subscription to the service. Thank you in advance!

Make sure you protect confidential and financial data. Develop a written procedure for maintaining data and destroying it when done. Then, document when and what you destroy. You risk liability, if you fail to protet client data. Having a written procedure helps reduce thoser risks significantly.

Hey Will,

I use a service called Propay.com and have used it for over 5 years. It has been the best fee's I've found anywhere. You do have to pay an annual fee but there are no monthly fee's after that. You just pay a transaction fee and a transfer fee which is not to high at all, plus you can accept all major credit cards.

I don't know about an automated subscription service you would have to contact them to find out but they do offer over the phone credit card payments if you are at a location and need to process cards as well as card readers.

I've never had an issue with them at all, and I've had a few customers question the charge and they contacted me right away, all I had to do was so the proof of purchase and any other information and the issue was taken care of. They worked on giving me increases on my monthly totals with no issues at all.

Might be worth looking into to see if it will work for what you are looking to do.

Good Luck in your search.

paypal's subscription model allows you to ding cards on a recurring schedule for a set amount. it also allows for trial periods or predetermined increases.

Propay is another great way to take on line payments. I have been using them for over 7 years with my Mary Kay Business and have had no problems with them whatsoever. I am not as fond of paypal. I use it only when I have to use it, seems like there are more problems with them. They have had a lot of spam problems in the past, hopefully this has been taken care of now.

Propay also provides you with a debit card with your balance on it. This way you are not charged to transfer funds into your account, but can use the debit card anywhere you can use a credit card.

Angela and Becky -

I am using ProPay for my small business as well and it's been great. I had approval very quickly, the fees are very reasonable and I'm able to transfer funds over to my account with just a keystroke. I also love their card swipe device, which you can take with you for secure face-to-face transactions. I run a consulting business, and having the ability to take credit card payments is becoming more essential than ever before.

Feel free to email me if you'd like to know more.

I do have contacts with an online processing company that has a program that is web based & will allow you to do reoccuring payments. If you have more questions, I would love to talk to you more about this & help you get this going. It is very cost effective & reliable. A great program!

Another vote for ProPay. It's affordable and easy to use. All you need is the card #, exp. date, and billing zip.
