Golf Outings-Why Not Volleyball Outings?

That pretty much sums up exactly why. Golf takes awhile and lends itself to conversation. One other aspect you hear from time to time is that golf has a tendency to show a person's character as well. Do they get frustrated and throw a club when behind a tree for the third time on that hole? Do they try to fudge the rules and roll a ball over? Do they count the right number of strokes?

While I enjoy playing volleyball, running around getting all sweaty before we sit down to talk business doesnt seem like the best of ideas.

I agree with Chris on the actual reason that there aren't many "volleyball outings." Golf is a sport you can play without a ton of effort and it's more accessible to everyone because it's not important to be athletic. However, I think volleyball outings would be a lot of fun! It's a sport that you can jump in and at least get the basics rather quickly, and if you're willing to learn the right way to hit the ball you can become a solid player in little time. It's also a better sport for social/business gatherings because you're not constantly running around like you would in a sport such as soccer or basketball.

Anyways, I'd be interested in playing volleyball in any type of setting. Whether it's just for fun or in a business setting I think it'd be a lot of fun. Maybe we can get a group together that's interested in playing a couple times per month? I'm in!

Great! I'd love to have you play. We play on the sand courts in my addition several times per week. It's funny that you say that you'll be Maverick, because we have Iceman and Maverick that already play with us. :) Got another name?

Golf courses are everywhere. Volleyball courts are less accessible.

Volleyball is a great sport- but best for afterhours when you can throw back a few- not that that doesn't happen on the golf course as well.... I'm up for either!

I would be interested in playing too.

Another reason why volleyball outings wouldn't work, is a good percentage of the decission makers are probably older and really can't play a sport like volleyball. Have you thought about doing a bowling outing? You could do lunch at Gillians and then walk up to their bowling alley and then play a few rounds.

Because I can fill a golf course with 144 golfers that will pay a lot of money to support a cause. In the case of Youthlinks, it's more like 576 golfers on four courses that are paying a LOT of money to play and raise money.

If you are doing a Scramble, no matter how bad you are you will contribute a shot every now and then. If you stink at volleyball, chances are that's not going to happen.

I can get 12 volleyball players on a court. My guess is that you won't raise much money that way unless you have a tournament at a place where there are a lot of courts.
