Making people and ideas findable

A social entrepreneur is someone who recognizes a social problem and uses entrepreneurial principles to organize, create, and manage a venture to make social change.

Because it is understaffed, or because social entrepreneurs are very hard to find, BusinessWeek is launching on February 20 its inaugural search for the most promising social entrepreneurs in the U.S. The magazine is looking for nominations from people like you...BW wants to find companies that aim to both turn a profit and solve social problems.

They are specifically looking for for-profit companies based in the U.S. that are tackling social problems in new and innovative ways here or abroad. You can visit BW to nominate a company, but please do us a favor and tell us about them too. It woudl be really cool if an Indiana firm got a feature story in BW, eh?

But as much as that feature story is a longshoe, if you know of any cool social entrepreneurs here in Indiana, please tell us about them here.

2. Please do not use logos or commercial images for your profile photo

3. Events should be posted in the events calendar

4. You can post pretty much anything you want on your own personal page (self promotion, etc), and you can change the style of your personal profile page to reflect your corporate identification if you so choose.

5. Please keep all comments civil and polite. It's OK to feel strongly about a subject, and it's OK to be critical of ideas, but please refrain from personal attacks of any kind.

If you witness or experience any issues, please contact admin@smallerindiana.com and we will look into the matter.

6. "Blatant self-promotion" is discouraged on SI, and "spam" is not welcome. Please be considerate of your fellow members.

7. Display ads (graphic banners designed to promote your business) can only live on your own profile page, unless you are an approved sponsor of Sponsor of Smaller Indiana.
