Brand Taffy, or One Man's (somewhat unpleasant) Quest to Brand Himself

Hey, everyone, I am a recent Smoosier and I joined while working on a first person story about personal branding in the age of social media. I am curious to know what people think of personal branding - is it BS or a whizbang marketing strategy? - and also what they think of my take on it and how it effected me. You can read the story here and I wrote a post mortem of sorts on my blog. Let me know what you think.

I think it is an excellent idea. I am working on it myself. In today's world we need to stand out and be remembered. Why not brand thyself? As long as the brand doesnt stink that is.

I still think that most people don't need to bother with it - for Joe Cable Company or Jennifer in Accounts Receivable, it's a massive waste of time. But if what you do depends on an audience, or you have a small business, then by all means, brand away.
