Age has nothing to do with cool. Cool is about attitude and action. Simply asking the question implies insecurity and self-doubt; totally uncool.

I remember a certain time in my life when I thought I was cool. That was when my sons finally figured out I grew up in the late 60's and early 70's and knew the words to many rock and roll songs. Like from the Beatles, Stones, Steppenwolf, etc. Now admittedly the coolness factor did wear off and fairly quickly I might add... but, in my two sons eyes for that fleeting moment of time, Dad was cool. By the way, I still crank up the volume when some of my favorite rock and roll songs are playing..but, it is just me and the radio

Cool is not an age, but an attitude. Haven't you ever seen a friggin cool 3 year old? Or a 50 year old with swag? What about that 80 year old that has the hippest attitude ever. Stay cool in your head, and you'll always be ahead of the crowd.

Some were never cool. Some people never will be. Some people always have been.

Ahhhh, you stirred this thought David. "Goodbye Stranger" - Supertramp. Listen here http://popup.lala.com/popup/432627052145840346

"Now some they do and some they don't and some you just can't tell
And some they will and some they won't, with some it's just as well
You can laugh at my behaviour that'll never bother me
Say the devil is my saviour but I don't pay no heed"

I guess we're saying Supertramp is cool now? If so my favorite line is "Not much of a girlfriend, she's the only one I got." -LOL

wow...never as there are always ever present cool qualities in every age...question might assume that we don't become cool until a certain age, and I know the blogger here wouldn't assume that.
Pat...I'm back!

Ever alert to cool,

It's not that you can't be cool at any age... anybody can. 5 to 95. Doesn't matter. It's that "cool" changes with age. That's why the "veterans" don't appear to be "cool" as defined by the younger generation. It's a different standard of what's publicly viewed as "cool"... sort of like how the attire that's considered appropriate for a person based upon their age changes.

Nobody thinks twice about grandma wearing a sweater with a giant knit reindeer on it, but to quote McCaulay Culkin in "Home Alone", "Not for a guy in the second grade. You can get beat up for wearing something like that."

Frankly, I think what makes a person genuinely "cool" instead of just appearing that way is when they really don't care whether anybody sees them that way or not. Those are the people that are truly "cool" to be with, and not just pulling off the image.

For me? About 37 years ago. :-(

I can prove, without a shadow of a doubt, that when your daughter turns 15 you are officially not cool. You might be to her friends... but definitely not to her.

Ah, but when she turns 25, you'll be cool again.
