Smaller Indiana

Making people and ideas findable

We have taken everything into account on the logo questions we have asked in the past. Thank you to the entire community for giving us your opinions on our logo designs. We do take everything in account and use them.

We have another one for you.
Olympia Stone is a high end counter-top manufacturer in north Indianapolis. Here are two logos we are struggling over (the fonts). We have other ideas for the brand but this is my personal favorite. I wanted to get the Smaller INdiana take.

I'm kind of partial to the top one.

The second proposition's OLYMPIA has an excellent font to fit the roman styled image. However, sitting on top of a sans-serif of such size isn't working. The STONE in alignment with the pillar is a good idea. Here is what I suggest trying. Keep the OLYMPIA as it is, size down the sans-serif STONE and give it greater kerning, as to continue its alignment with the pillar. The STONE will need to be moved up, obviously, but still keeping the leading appropriate for the spacing.

Just my suggestion, take it or leave it at the door.

I agree that the second version, with the stylized serif that's more Roman, is a better choice, but the stroke width is too close to the shapes above it and the sans serif font below it. With no variation in stroke width, the Olympia doesn't stand out at all. If you have a bold version of it, I think that would really help.

I like the second one Kyle. I have no design or marketing training, just personal choice:)

As always.. thanks Paula. :) This is the first draft still have more coming with color and different design options.

I prefer the first. I agree with Phillip that the second font fits the roman style, but beyond that it isn't really working for me. I think the first one has better contrast and pops more with the font that you used. My vote is for #1.

Think I prefer the top one as well....

I'm outnumbered by the men - just remember - women choose anything that has to do wth the home, especially countertops :)

I'm a guy and I prefer the second one. Thought I could help, Paula.

I will stick to everything I said previously, but add Rae's suggestion. She has a good point when she points out the stroke size. Maybe finding a bolder version of your font. Other than that, just try it out. I am certain you already know how more thumbnails are handy when you are doing something such as this. I despise thumbnails, but they work.
